Forget Real Madrid as Mourinho announces interest in signing Man United deal
Jose Mourinho has responded to rumours he could leave Manchester United and make a shock return to struggling La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Some reports emerged over the last few weeks which claimed Mourinho was Madrid’s first choice to replace Julen Lopetegui, who has made a nightmare start to life at the Bernabeu and is heading for the chop after failing to take the club to that next stage after three Champions League wins.
The special one is not having the best of starts to life at Old Trafford and has only one three Premier League games this season, while also getting knocked out of the carabao Cup by Derby County in the first round.
And his performances, along with the fact he has fallen out with a number of first team players, has led to speculation that he could be sacked and replaced by former Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is ready for a return to management and has his eyes set on a switch to the Premier League.
However, Mourinho has responded to the speculation linking him with a move the Bernabeu and told the club that he is more than happy at Old Trafford and is keen to stay well beyond his current deal, which runs out at the end of 2020.
Could Mourinho really make a return to Spain? Here is what we think.
Mourinho is one of the best coaches to ever grace the game of football and only commands a top job, so if United did decide to sack him and there were no other options than to return to Madrid, then yes he would make the switch.
But if he did leave United than he would seek a fresh challenge in the Bundesliga or at International level as he has accomplished pretty much everything in the game.
