Blues Brand new number 19 announces he deserves big Chelsea move
Pedro Neto will wear the number 19 shirt for CHELSEA this season and the winger has opened up and revealed that he deserves to be at a big club like the Blues for all the hard work he has put in over the seasons.
The 24-year-old had been linked with leaving Wolves earlier this summer but news of a transfer cooled in recent weeks, as the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool opted to not make a move to sign the Portuguese star.
Neto joined up with Gary O’Neil’s squad in Miami for pre-season and had been talking up is plans and goals for the upcoming campaign, but news of a deal to head to London broke on Saturday, with the winger then being unveiled as a new Chelsea star a day later.
He has now taken the 19 shirt with the Blues which was left vacant in the first-team squad last season, and Neto could make his debut for the club in their Premier League season opener against Man City this weekend.
“I feel really grateful to have joined this club,” said the 24-year-old. “I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.”
Neto has opened up and admitted that he doesn’t have a preference on his favourite position and is just looking to add goals to his new side.
He told the club website: ‘It’s a young squad with really talented players. I played against CHELSEA last year and I know the team we have. I can’t wait to meet them and work with them because we can do great things.’
‘I like to play in the three positions in the front,’ Neto explains. ‘I have played more in the wide areas at Wolves but inside is also good for me, I don’t have a preference.
‘I hope to bring work, I hope to bring faith to the team, to bring wins, to bring goals, to bring assists, and to bring everything to make everybody happy here.’
Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs has revealed Neto hadn’t been pushing to leave, the offer was just too good for all parties to ignore and that is why they allowed him to join CHELSEA.
“I like to play in the three positions in the front,” Neto explained.
