Liverpool assistent announces Neves ‘type of player’ Klopp likes as talent Camacho all set for summer move?
Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders has admitted Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is the type of player that the Reds would like to have in their squad.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has built up quite a squad at Anfield and they are now considered to be one of the best side sin Europe, especially as they seek to end a 29-year drought to regain the Premier League title, while also challenging for a Champions League crown.
However, there has been some speculation in the media over the past few weeks about whom would be coming in during the summer transfer window to help take Liverpool to that next level, and Wolves midfielder Neves has been a shock name to make the transfer list.
Neves has impressed this season for Wolves and with Klopp, seeking to add some more depth to his midfield area, has been keeping a close eye on his performances.
When asked about Neves, Lijnders told O Jogo: “I know him very well, his ambition, his passion for the game, his professionalism.
“I know what he gives to the team and this type of player always interests us.
“I recognised him when I saw him at Wolves. I saw technique, professionalism. I saw the 2013-14 player I knew.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool risk losing promising midfielder Rafael Camacho this summer after contract talks stalled.
Camacho made his debut for Liverpool in the 2-1 FA Cup third-round defeat to Wolves in January, and the Portugal U20 international went onto make his first Premier League appearance as a second-half substitute in the 4-3 win over Crystal Palace later that month.
But the 18-year-old is out of contract at Anfield at the end of next season and is attracting interest from a host of top clubs in Europe as they seek to take advantage of the fact they could seal a deal for nothing in the summer window.
Klopp is a fan of Camacho and does not want to lose the talented midfielder, but as his demands and the clubs willingness to keep the budget nice and tight halt a potential deal happening, the German may be looking at replacing the talented midfielder if a deal cannot get done.
