Chelsea ANNOUNCE Ninth signing – £87M Blues target hands in transfer request – Director delighted with Chelsea deal

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Pedro Neto on a massive seven year contract after the Blues decided that he was a player that could improve the squad for the upcoming season.

With three goals and 11 assists, Neto showed some excellent form for Wolves last season, despite suffering two different hamstring issues in an injury-hit campaign.

The deal, which was agreed on Friday, is broken up into an initial £51.4m payment plus £2.6m in add-ons, and Neto becomes CHELSEA’s ninth signing of the summer following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Omari Kellyman, goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Tosin Adarabioyo, Aaron Anselmino and Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian and Marc Guiu through the door.

The Portugal international joins Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling as wide options ahead of the new season

Pedro has signed a seven-year contract and will begin training with his new teammates at Cobham in the coming days.

‘I feel really grateful to have joined this club,’ said the 24-year-old. ‘I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.’

CHELSEA have made nine signings this summer – have spent alot of money on players that will not make too much of a difference in that squad for the upcoming season, but Neto is already proven in the Premier League.

He is a class act that will create and score goals on a regular basis – Sterling, Maduake and Mudryk should all be worried about their place in the side because Neto is a man that will need to be started on a weekly basis.

This is probably the best deal that Chelsea have done all summer and one that Blues fans will be very happy with – he really is a class act.

OSIMHEN PUSHES FOR MOVE –

Napoli have confirmed that long-term Chelsea target Victor Osimhen handed in a transfer request to leave the cub this summer. It comes after he was left out of Antonio Conte’s matchday squad for a Coppa Italia clash with Modena on Saturday.

Osimhen is a player that has been linked with a move to Chelsea for months – the Blues are reportedly still very interested in trying to bring the big man to Stamford Bridge before the close of the transfer window, but his asking price has been a real.

CHELSEA didnt want to pay that £111 million clause on his contract at the beginning of the summer, so Napoli lowered the asking price to £87 million in order to try and get him sold – but the Blues dont want to pay that amount for the player either.

There has been alot more speculation about loan moves, potential swap deals and the reports that Osimhen does not want to even make the move to the Premier League, but that has not stopped rumours that CHELSEA are still very keen on the man.

Now – Sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed Osimhen’s future pre-match, saying that the big man has handed in a transfer request in order to force a move away from Napoli before the club of the transfer window.

“He asked to leave.” The club chief continued: “We are calm because we have players in the squad who can replace him in the best way.

“However, we do not want to harm the integrity of the group and want to preserve it. We will see what will happen in the next few days.”

Look, we know that Osimhen has wanted to leave Napoli for months now – but if clubs dont want to meet his high asking price and then given him the reported £250k-a-week wages that he desires – what are the club meant to do.

We are sure that he will leave Napoli – we just dont know who for and on what kind of deal.

SLONINA STATEMENT MADE –

Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has joined League One side Barnsley for the 2024/25 campaign, and the clubs Sporting Director has admitted that he is delighted with the transfer move.

Slonina was brought to the club just a few windows ago in hope that he could really develop working with the Chelsea coaching staff and develop into a stopper that had the ability to challenge for that number one spot.

However – the lad was too young when he made that move to Chelsea and is nowhere near ready to play for the Blues on a regular basis – so the decision was made to allow him to make the loan move away from the club, and after a few months, Barnsley snapped the lad up.

And after seeing the deal happen – Sporting Director Mladen Sormaz has opened up and revealed just how delighted he is with the deal – he said, “We are really pleased to bring in Gabriel, he is one of few very high level young goalkeepers in the world and already a senior international at 20, we feel this is a mutually beneficial move where Gabriel can test himself as a first team player at Oakwell in an extremely competitive league while we get the benefit of an elite level young player with experience beyond his age.

“We signed Jackson Smith as our long term number one earlier in the summer but we have also been on the lookout for a season long loan option with plenty of high level experience to allow Jackson time to grow into our number 1.

‘James Bittner has a track record of working with young up and coming players and we are seeing this first hand with the progress Jackson is already making.”

Slonina was brought by that Chelsea board in hope that he could develop into a player that could challenge for that number one spot at Stamford Bridge – but it has not quite worked out for the player.

The decision to loan him out suggests that Chelsea will look to sell the stopper on a more permanent basis in the summer – especially as the Blues are continuing to sign players this month and the upcoming transfer windows.

Slonina is a very good player that does have a bright future in the game – so this is a very good move for the lad to make and we are sure that he will play alot over the coming season and develop.
