Newcastle United have learned that they can land Serhou Guirassy for an absolute bargain this summer window.

According to German outlet Bild, the likes of Arsenal, Man United and Newcastle are in the the race for Serhou Guirassy’s signature – as they search for attacking reinforcements – along with AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, with the publication branding the forward a player ‘in demand’.

Guirassy enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal after joining Stuttgart on a permanent basis 12 months ago, netting 30 times in 30 appearances to help the club finish second in the Bundesliga table behind Xabi Alonso’s undefeated Bayer Leverkusen.

The report claims that Guirassy is likely to move on from Stuttgart ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and the Guinea international is available for a ‘bargain price’ of just €18-20million (£15-17m) this summer.

According to reporter Iomie Stanley – he could have been a brilliant addition to that attack – he told icfootballnews: ‘United are in dire need of a striker – they need to splash the cash.

There has been so many links to big names – but spending £15 million on this man could be a summer bargain – he really is proving himself over in the Bundesliga.

‘He could be a great short term solution to the clubs biggest problem.’

HUMMELS FOR FREE?

Long-standing Newcastle United target Mats Hummels has been released by Borussia Dortmund.

The defender helped the German giants reach the Champions League final, which they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid – but will now be a free agent this summer after the club allowed him to depart the side.

This follows after Edin Terzic headed out of the exit door after the Dortmund boss resigned over a bust-up between the pair, and the news will give Man United the chance to get a transfer deal done.

Eddie Howe is seeking to improve his squad this transfer window and is hoping to get some backing from the Newcastle board – despite the shocking Premier League season the club has just had.

Hummels is one of the most experienced defenders in the Bundesliga and it has come as a massive surprise to see that he is now a free agent after Dortmund released him.

He may not be in his prime – but he showed last season that he is still able to keep pace with even the best of attackers – so if Eddie Howe is looking to add some experience and leadership to the side, Hummels could be his guy.

Many doubted that Thiago Silva would be able to play in the Premier League because of his age – but top defenders know how to play the game and Hummels could certainly teach that Newcastle  back-line a thing or two.

And the fact he could be signed on a free is a massive bonus – not too much money will have to get spent.

RAMSDALE BOOST –

Newcastle United target Aaron Ramsdale has indicated he “never” wants to go another year playing as little as he did in the 2023-24 campaign.

The 26-year-old who has made England’s Euro 2024 squad has been linked to a transfer this summer after falling behind David Raya in the pecking order at the Emirates.

The likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham are just three clubs that have been linked with a move for the England goalkeeper – and he has dropped a massive hint that he is keen to leave the Gunners at some point this transfer window.

Speaking on his future at the Emirate Ramsdale told talkSPORT: “No footballer wants to not play. I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again.”

He also said it has been “tough” to lose his spot to David Raya but is looking hopeful towards representing his country in Germany.

Ramsdale added: “I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my chest, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again if I play a minute or no minutes [and England win the Euros], it will be the pinnacle for me, the best day ever.

“For the time being I’m probably one of the happiest 26, 27 men in England and hopefully we can make not just us but however many millions at home the happiest as well.”

Ramsdale is far too good to be sitting on the bench every week and he must have hated it last season – there are some big clubs interested in a potential deal – and if anyone gets the man, they will be getting a very good shot-stopper.

Newcastle would be a very good move for the man to make that is for sure.
