La Liga star ‘doing everything possible’ to complete £200,000-a-week move to Newcastle
Newcastle United fans have been told Diego Carlos is doing everything possible to sign with the club
Newcastle are understood to have made a £30m offer for the Brazilian defender, which has not been accepted by the Spanish club, as they believe that they can get more out of the mega-rich Toon
Carlos has even handed in a transfer request in order to get a deal done, and the Magpies believe that they will get a transfer deal over the line if the Spaniards are willing to accept the £30 million offer.
And amid all the speculation, Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol has opened up and claimed that the Sevilla star is doing everything to secure a January move to Newcastle this transfer window.
He told Sky Sports: “Diego Carlos is thinking that if I’m the one Newcastle want to sign and I know they really want me, then I’m going to have to do everything possible to make this deal happen so I need to tell Sevilla officially that I want to leave.
“It’s been reported in Spain that Carlos may have a release clause of around €80m (£67m).
“Newcastle are arguably the richest club in the world but they won’t want to pay over the odds and have other targets.
“I don’t think Carlos would move just for the money. Of course the financial package on offer has to be right. He knows Newcastle are building something and they have the finances to build something as well.”
Look, as long as Carlos is coming to Newcastle for all the right reasons, and not that £200,000-a-week contract that he reportedly wants, then he could be a game-changing signing for Eddie Howe.
He has been decent for Sevilla and we are interested to see just how he copes in the Premier League
