Newcastle fans sent message about possible incoming Brazilian amid Guimaraes talk

South American Football expert Tim Vickery on reports of Newcastle interest in Atalanta’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson

The Magpies have been very careful to make sure they do not breach FFP rules and invite any unwanted scrutiny, but The Magpies could be forced to cash in on some of their most prized assets to raise transfer funds for the summer.

Bruno Guimaraes is a man that the club may be forced to sell in the coming windows, if you believe the latest reports, as the likes of PSG and Liverpool are reportedly interested in a deal for the player, and the Toon are now looking for alternatives.

The 24-year-old spent his formative years in his homeland and represented Desportivo Brasil, Cruzeiro, Corinthians, and Fortaleza before arriving in Europe. Salernitana signed him in January 2022, but his stint with the Serie A club lasted only six months.

Atalanta secured Ederson’s services in July 2022, and he has gone from strength to strength since then, and has chipped in in with five goals and one assist in 23 appearances so far.

Now South American Football expert Tim Vickery has been speaking on the player ahead of a possible move to the Toon: “He’s a strong, well-built central midfielder. He’s strong on the ball, versatile, box-to-box and has a strong personality as well.

“The first thing I remember about him is his professional debut for Cruzeiro, who were really on the slide at the time.

“They were relegated in dreadful form but even in that bad context, he stood out. So, a lot of virtues and I just wonder if all these virtues may remind you of another Brazilian already wearing the shirt of Newcastle.
