Forget Wood and Trippier as Toon to submit monster £80 million to land world class midfielder

Reports claim Newcastle are ready to submit an offer of £80million to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

The Toon have been in the headlines alot over the past few months as there are alot of players linked with a possible move to the richest club in world football.

The Magpies started off this transfer window with the signing of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £12 million, and they are very close to announcing the signing of Chris Wood from Burnley in a deal worth £20 million.

But it is the latest headlines in the media linking the toon with a monster move for one of the most sought after players in the game right now, Haidara.

The Mali international is currently away on international duty in the African Cup of Nations, but has once again been impressing for Leipzig this season, so much so, that Manchester United and PSG are the latest clubs to join the list of teams interested in a deal

The central midfielder is contracted to RB Leipzig until 2025 and has a release clause of around £33m, but that does not become active until the summer, so the Toon would need to spend around £80 million to get a deal done, IcFootballnews has learned

It’s believed Haidara would demand wages in the region of £160,000-per-week – making him the highest paid player at the club.

The Magpies hierarchy have been doing some strange business over the past few days that will not improve the squad that much for the back end of the season. Tripper and Woods are decent, but with the money the club have, they should show some ambition

Haidara is a world class player that is ready for the Premier League and he is the kind of move that the Toon fans want to see, and hope to see.

If they do get the man, he would be an unreal signing for the club
