Newcastle to offer Champions League and Premier League winner Matip move to the Toon!

Joel Matip is set to stay in the Premier League after his release from Liverpool, as the likes of Newcastle are interested in a potential deal for the defendr.

The centre-back has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup with the Reds over eight seasons on Merseyside and became one of the most reliable players under Jurgen Klopp.

However – Matip, 32, suffered an ACL injury in December, meaning his final game for the Reds was a 4-3 home win against Fulham as he was unable to agree a new contract that would see him stay with the club

The sun says that the likes of Newcastle, Bournemouth and Southampton are said to be vying for the former Cameroon international’s services as they all seek to add a proven top level defender to the side.

A big section of  LIVERPOOL fans will be sad to see him leave – but alot of players could be departing at the end of the season  now that Jurgen Klopp is going.

Matip has been a solid player for Liverpool over the seasons and there has not been too many times that he has let the side down – he really has been quality next to Virgil Van Dijk.

There are some big changes coming from Liverpool in the summer window and we are sure that a few more first team players will be looking to leave the club and seek a fresh challenge.

He may have been injured since December – but he is a quality defender that could add some class to that Toon back-line if Newcastle are prepared to take a risk on the big man in the summer
