Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘At this stage, Newcastle have not made an offer. The Saudi pro League sides’ outreach is seen as an attempt to create a market for Neves and understand whether Premier League sides value him as a serious option before the next transfer window.

‘Ruben Neves is a name that will excite Toon fans — he has Premier League pedigree, leadership, and quality on the ball. Howe wants reliable midfielders who understand English football, and Neves ticks every box.

‘The big question is whether Newcastle see him as a priority or simply an option. With Al-Hilal offering him out, the Toon could negotiate a clever deal if they feel he fits their long-term plans.

‘For now, it’s one to keep an eye on — because if Newcastle do decide to strengthen midfield, Neves is a very realistic target.’
