Newcastle backed to spending over £40M and signing brand new striker

Newcastle United could spend £40million on a new striker to help star man Callum Wilson – that’s according to former Scotland boss Alex McLeish
There has been alot of speculation in the media about what players Newcastle would be signing this summer – but despite all the rumours and all that money that the club have – they have barely done any business
But there is still time for Eddie Howe to get a few more players added to this squad this summer – and it is believed that he would like to add another striker to the attack to help out Wilson
Wilson is easily the number one hitman at the Toon – but he seems to pick up a few injuries as he plays alot of minutes – so McLeish has claimed that the club will not look to sign a new forward in the final few weeks of the window
“Newcastle need a striker, we know that,” McLeish told Football Insider
“Callum Wilson is an incredible striker but he is always injured and that is no good. Chris Wood has not done the things we thought he would.
“So there has to be something happening there then. The money is there, could we see a big, £30million or £40million striker come in?
“I have said before that top teams need top strikers to win top trophies. Newcastle needs that right now.
“Let’s see who they get through the door because I am sure that someone will arrive before the window shuts and there is loads of time left.”
