Newcastle to try and wrap up transfer deal after Lampard admits Tomori exit on cards

Newcastle have been given the all clear to make a move to try and sign Fikayo Tomori this transfer window on loan.

Tomori has made just four appearances this season – the latest being a 10-minute cameo in the FA Cup win over Morecambe, and that has led to alot of speculation in the media that a number of teams are interested in a possible deal.

Newcastle boss Steven Bruce is one boss that is seeking to improve his squad this transfer window with a few loan signings, and has been tipped to make a move for the Blues star now that he knows there is a serious chance of a deal getting done.

And now Lampard has admitted that Tomori could be on the move for the rest of the season after failing to make the starting XI for the Morecambe clash, Lampard told football.london: “The situation with Fikayo is open at the moment.

“There is a possibility he could be going on loan to get games somewhere else. That was part of my thinking of not starting him today.

“I gave him some minutes at the end but while we were looking at that I wanted to make sure it was the right thing for the club and for him and individually. So that’s why he didn’t start.”

A loan move may be the very best thing for the young man as staying put is not good for his development. He may not be good enough for the Chelsea first team just yet, but if he joins a team like Newcastle, it could be a very good career choice for the lad.

They are in need of adding a new defender to the club, and he would get alot of game time at the club
