Eddie Howe told to bring world class Italian to Newcastle this summer
NEWCASTLE UNITED should look to sign Leonardo Bonucci on a free transfer this summer.
The Toon had an amazing season last year and managed to finish inside the top four – which means that there will be Champions League football coming to the North next season.
Eddie Howe knows that he will need to sign players that will add some quality to the side – and they have already managed to sign Sandro Tonalo on a deal worth £53 million – which is the clubs first big statement signing of the summer.
But now Howe has been told to sign Bonucci on a few contract this summer – Speaking exclusively to Football insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that he would bring experience to the side.
WHAT HAS HE SAID –
“He can come in when needed and he will bring Newcastle experience,” He told Football Insider.
“On a free transfer, wow, I think he will be a quality signing as he has winning mentality, so they should look to get a deal over the line.
“You can still bring him and sign another defender to help with Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar.
“He can also play the cup games aswell, so he would be a very useful incoming this summer.”
SHOULD NEWCASTLE SIGN BONUCCI?
Bonucci has been one of the best defenders in the game for more than 15 years – he really has won pretty much every trophy in the game – but he is far too old to make the move to NEWCASTLE UNITED and make a difference.
He would bring in a winning metality and experience yes – but Howe needs players that can compete at the very highest level on a weekly basis – Bonucci will not be able to do that in the Premier League and Champions League.
So no, Newcastle SHOULD NOT sign the Italian star
