Nicolas stuns Arsenal fans and wonders why Gunners didint sign Chelsea man this summer!
Former Arsenal player Charlie Nicolas has questioned whey his former club did not go for Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri in the summer.
With the Gunners looking for a new manager, they were linked with some of the games biggest names as rumours constantly frustrated fans.
But in the end the club shocked many and appointed former PSG and Sevilla coach Emery, who has done a tremendous job bringing in the right kind of players that will improve the squad.
However, they had the opportunity to land the services of new Chelsea boss Sarri, who was told he is free to leave Napoli have failing to win any silverware at the club, despite the fact he built quite a side.
And Nicolas is wondering just why the Gunners did not make a move for Sarri when they had the chance.
“This coach has been floating about for a few seasons,” Nicholas said of Sarri on Sky Sports.
“Everybody has been pretty interested to see what he’d eventually do.
“I thought Arsenal would have been in for him too but I don’t know if negotiations went on.”
Sarri is a very interesting character and one that could have done a wonderful job at Arsenal as he would have been something completely different from Wenger.
But the Gunners made the decision to land Emery, who is not as fiery and is far less of a presence than the Italian, but has won ten trophies during his managerial career while Sarri has won nothing to date.
