Striker speaks out and makes Arteta admission amid latest Arsenal transfer talk
Eddie Nketiah has spoken out amid reports that he could be leaving ARSENAL and making the move to Marseille.
Nketiah has been a regular for Mikel Arteta over the past two seasons, but the majority of his appearances have been off the bench and he is a player that the club are open to letting go over the next few weeks.
Mikel Arteta has Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in his attack for next season – and there is much talk that the club will seek to add another forward to the attack by the end of the transfer window.
That has led to constant speculation in the media that Marseille have made an offer to the striker to make the move to Ligue 1 this summer and Foot Mercato is reporting that Nketiah has been sold on Marseille’s project and contract negotiations are going well between player and club.
Nketiah has now seemingly played down those reports and spoken out about how he is trying to impress boss Mikel Arteta during their tour of the USA and believes the games will help the young players in the squad start to make an impression.
“Pre-season is really good for a lot of the lads who haven’t trained or played with us that much to show what they can do,” he told the club’s official website
“It gives people opportunities to show themselves and get fit, so hopefully they can take them.
“It’s a platform, even for us now, to make our mark and start playing games regularly and get fit. I think there are a lot of examples of players who did well in pre-season and gone on to play and have minutes in the first team, so it’s a really good chance.”

Nketiah must be angered by the fact he is not a regular starter for Arsenal – he has been at ARSENAL for many seasons and would have been hoping that he is seen as one of the clubs first choices.
If he stays this summer – it could be a big mistake.
