Arsenal are looking to tie captain Martin Odegaard down to a new deal – it has been claimed in the media today.

Hailed as the next big thing in football – Odegaard made the move to Real Madrid as a sixteen-year-old lad with the world at his feet – but he really struggled to live upto the hype that surrounded his name.

A move to Arsenal has reignited his career and turned him into one of the most creative players in the Premier League – with his goals and assists helping keep Arsenal at the very top of the Premier League.

And according to Fichajes, the North Londoners are looking to tie the playmaker down to a new deal.

Arsenal are looking to increase the Norway international’s salary from £5.3million to around £8.8m, making him one of the highest-paid players in the squad

In an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Odegaard has revealed he supported Liverpool as a boy but made it clear that his preference is to remain at Arsenal for as long as possible.

When asked if Liverpool must make an ‘incredibly good offer’ to tempt him to leave Arsenal, Odegaard replied ‘There is not much that can lure me away from here. I have a very good time here.
