‘Best deal Chelsea could have done’ Blues fans sent exciting message after £180,000-a-week deal
Jason Cundy has told Chelsea that signing up Callum Hudson-Odoi was the best deal they could have done.
Hudson-Odoi is easily regarded as one of the finest talents in the game and is heavily tipped to become one of the best wingers in the game, especially after producing some fine performances for both Chelsea and England last season.
But there had been a lot of transfer speculation in the media that he could actually leave the club, as his contract was up at the end of this season and there was no end in sight about whether or not he would agree a new contract.
But after months of speculation, the Blues finally concluded a deal with the young man and he put pen to paper on a big five-year deal, which has now ended speculation about whether or not he will stay.
And Cundy says he is delighted to see the 18-year-old sign on, claiming it would have been “devastating” to see him leave.
“He is the future, he has shown the quality he has got, he’s a full international,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“For me he starts [when he’s fit], he starts wide of the three, left or right.
“It depends what formation you play but if you’re playing a three up top, he can either play on the left or the right.
“So he’ll cut in on the right or cut in [on the left], generally on the right-hand side.
“He can’t play down the middle, I’ve not seen him play there, I’m sure given an opportunity [he could].
“But he is the future of the football club and it is brilliant news.
“This is probably the best, you talk about Chelsea’s transfer ban, this is the best signing Chelsea could have made in this transfer window.
“For him to have left would have been devastating, so he’s signed down.
“He’s a good lad as well, he’s down to earth, he’s a nice boy to talk to.
“Very confident, he’s got a nice manner, nice way about him. I’m delighted for him.”
Hudson-Odoi is a brilliantly gifted young player and signing him up to a new deal was a great move by Chelsea, especially as fans would have been devastated to see him leave the club for the Bundesliga or another Premier League side.
Him signing up was great news, WELL DONE CHELSEA.
