Frank Lampard announces five-year £180,000-a-week Hudson-Odoi deal ‘his Chelsea priority’
Blues boss Frank Lampard has admitted that signing up Callum Hudson-Odoi to a new deal was his priority for Chelsea.
After his breakthrough season under Maurizio Sarri last season, there has been alot of transfer speculation regarding the future of the young man over the past few months as he constantly failed to agree a new contract, meaning the likes of Bayern Munich were keeping a very close eye.
But Chelsea believed that they could convince the young man to commit his long-term future with the club, and after months of negotiations and talks, they have finally come to an agreement and he has signed up.
It is believed that Hudson-Odoi has agreed a five-year deal worth around £180,000-a-week, and Lampard has admitted just how delighted he is to see that the young man has finally agreed a new contract.
“Pretty much as soon as I got the job I made contact with him to make him aware that I want him to be part of the plan,” Lampard said.Lampard said.Lampard said.
“He’s a young lad who’s come through the academy here, the club’s worked hard with him, he’s worked hard to get in the first team and for me it just felt like what everybody wanted.
“So then it was away from me slightly in terms of the club dealing with the contract in itself, but I wanted to make it clear that I want him at the club, because I believe in his talent.”
He has big expectations on his shoulders and he needs to go out on a weekly basis and prove that he is now the man to eventually take the mantle of Eden Hazard, who was the clubs most influential player.
The lad needed to sign a new deal and Chelsea done well to keep him away from Bayer, and many Chelsea fans will surely be excited to see just what the future holds for the lad.
He has a bright future at the club and now needs to show his quality for the club.
