Powerful defender announces if he is joining Arsenal after agent confirms interest
Gent defender Joseph Okumu has said he is “happy” to be at the Belgian club after his agent confirmed Arsenal were interested in his services.
The Gunners are still looking to complete a couple more transfer signings that will add some depth to that squad this summer – as they have a long season with the Premier League and Europa League competition
The 25-year-old Kenyan international defender has been compared to Virgil van Dijk – and his agent has recently come out and claimed that the Gunners are interested in signing the giant defender
They said: “We have had informal interest from English side Arsenal and Scottish giants Celtic.
“But German side Borussia Dortmund are the first side to make an official inquiry. He is open to a move if a proper agreement is reached.”
However – Okumu has now opened up and had his say about his future and told the likes of Arsenal that he is happy where he is – Okumu told Het Nieuwsblad: “I only think about (leaving) if there is an agreement between all parties.I rely on my agents for that.
“So far, I’m just focusing on football. If anything becomes concrete, I’ll let you know. I’m still happy to be here. I’ll stay calm and see what happens. I’m playing right now and that’s fine for me.”

Arsenal may have been interested in the player earlier in the transfer window -but that has wavered in recent weeks
He is a big and powerful guy that could have added something to that Gunners squad – but at the end of the day – staying put is probably best for him right now
He is starting to make all the right noises in the game – and a move too quickly could hinder his development
So, yeah it is a good decision to stay
