Prem star opens up about possible Man United move, Klopp sends Liverpool message, £55 million Ajax star admits Premier League interest

Here is a roundup of the latest Liverpool and Manchester United news from icfootballnews.

Dwight Mcneil has opened up about the possibly move to Manchester United during the January transfer window.

After having a very difficult transfer window at United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to delve into his transfer kitty during the January window and try to land a few players that can come in and get the club challenging for that top four spot.

The Red Devils have had a very inconsistent start to the new season and find themselves already well out the chase for a top four spot, and Solskjaer knows that he needs to add some real quality in certain areas of the pitch in order to get United challenging again, and to save his job.

But despite the reports linking United with some world class signings, they have also reportedly shown an interest in McNeil, as the 19-year-old has developed into a key player for Burnley manager Sean Dyche, featuring in 11 Premier League fixtures for the Clarets this season.

But McNeil has admitted that he is just focusing on his football, and not the transfer speculation, he said on the Daily Express: ‘The gaffer [Dyche] just calls it “outside noise”. ‘I’ve got to focus on my football and if that comes around it comes around in time. The lads here and the gaffer try to keep me level-headed and help me keep my feet on the ground.

‘I think the most important thing is for me to concentrate on my football and see where that takes me in the future.

‘You can’t get too far ahead of yourself because I’m still 19, I’m still young, I’m learning and I’m still maturing as a person and a player. We’ll just have to see what happens.

‘My aim is to keep playing every week. All I want to do is play football for Burnley. I just want to keep playing and keep improving.’

Jurgen Klopp has told his Liverpool players that they need to be brave against Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side hold a six-point lead over City after 11 games, but with heightened attention on Anfield, they enter a pivotal period of travelling and a heavy schedule.

Klopp has routinely said it – November and December could be the most difficult months in Liverpool’s season as the Germans side look to stay unbeaten against arguably the most dangerous side in the Premier League, and ahead of the big game, Klopp has told his players that they need to be brave against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“It’s a big game, two really good teams facing each other at Anfield, under the floodlights,” Klopp said on the Sky Sports website.

“The last three games we played 0-0 at home, then lost 2-1 at the Etihad where we nearly scored a goal and then the last one was a draw in the Community Shield, before we lost the shootout.”

“It will be a good football game – I’m not sure whether it will be just from a coaches and tactical point of view or a spectacle one for supporters.

“But everything is on a plate and no one hides anything, we cannot only be offensive but you have to be brave against Manchester City – even for a point.”

“We have to play our best game and everybody in the stadium has to be in absolutely top shape,” Klopp urged.

“The guys that sell the hot dogs have to be in top shape, everyone from the first second, get in the stadium, wait for the team to warm-up and be there.

“That is what I wish for – that before we even know whether we are going to get something that we invest all our emotions for the game and let’s play football.”

Long-time Manchester United target Andre Onana has admitted that he is now interested in a move to the Premier League.

United were on a mission last summer summer to acquire some world class players and get the club challenging for more than a top four spot this season, but there has been a lot of speculation in the media which suggested that the Red Devils could have lost one of their biggest players, as De Gea could not agree a new contract at the club.

It is believed that United did not offer the Spanish stopper the kind of deal that he would have liked, and that led to speculation that the likes of PSG, Juventus and Barcelona could all come calling to try and nail down his services.

However, the Old Trafford giants offered the 28-year-old a new and improved deal in an attempt to finally agree upon a contract extension, and in the end, De Gea decided to end all speculation and agree a nice big contract at the club.

But if he did not manage to secure a new deal, there was also some speculation in the media that United were interested in trying to sign Onana from Ajax after the stopped had an impressive campaign with the Dutch Champions.

Onana played for Ajax during their dramatic 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and although he stated afterwards that he is happy in Amsterdam, the Cameroon international acknowledged he’d move on eventually.

‘There’s good competition and everyone wants to play here [in England] but to play you need to get a chance,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘The Premier League is not for everybody so we will see. Now, I am with Ajax and I am happy to be the first-choice goalkeeper.’ He added:

‘It’s always important for me to move on. I am not going to stay here forever but now I am focused, so let’s keep it this way.

‘I am happy to play for Ajax. I am happy to play for a big club but we will see what will happen at the end of the season.’
