Agreement reached! Chelsea and Man United look on as Ornestein has Arsenal update on Ramsey
BBC reported David Ornestein has claimed Arsenal are confident they can seal a new deal for star midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Despite all the transfer speculation and rumours that some players will be leaving, the one deal many Gunners fans are hoping to see is that of Ramsey, who won the clubs player of the season last year and is arguably one of the biggest players at the club.
He only has 12 months to go on his current contract and rumours have reported he wants a deal close to the one Mesut Ozil signed last February when he agreed a massive £300,000-a-week deal to stay with the club.
Talks over an extension have been rumbling along for a while, and that has led to speculation both Manchester United and Chelsea could make a move, as both are keen to land the Welshman for an absolute bargain.
But BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has now issued an update.
In a Twitter post updating fans on the club’s transfer deadline day business, Ornstein wrote: “Reports of Arsenal bid for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele false.
“As previously reported incoming business completed a month ago. Were open to exceptional deal if chance arose (admire & have links to Dembele) but never realistic. #AFC optimistic on Ramsey contract but not close.”
The news will be welcomed to many Gunners fans who are tired of hearing how close he is to a new deal, as they simply want to put an end to all the speculation and get him signed back up.
