Ozil a wanted man, Arsenal sent message about possible £70m January deal, Arsenal vs Palace highlights, Gunners told to sign up Tottenham star

Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.com

Paul Scholes has urged Manchester United to make a move for unsettled Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.

It was no secret that Ozil was almost out-of-contract before Arsenal gave in and offered him a massive £350,000-a-week deal, especially as they literally just let Alexis Sanchez leave for Manchester United and did not want to lose another big named player.

There has been some suggestion in the media that Unai Emery does not like the style of play of the German, and does not want him in his squad any longer, that is why the former Real Madrid ace has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season, which came in the 2-2 draw with Watford.

And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that he could be leaving the club and heading to either the Turkish League or Chinese League, as there is a lot of interest in the German despite his poor performances under Emery.

But Scholes has told United boss Solskjaer that he should try to make a move, telling BT Sport: “I can’t understand that [Ozil’s situation at Arsenal]. I think he’s a player that can link a team together.

“He’s got great quality, he’s shown that in his career, he could be an answer short term, I don’t know. I think that would be up to him.

“I can’t see it happening but I think he is a player that United could do with right now.”

Arsenal have been sent a big transfer message in their chase to sign up Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery done some wonderful transfer business during the summer transfer window, and not so good business, but he has added some players to the squad that gives the club a real chance of getting back inside the top four at the end of the season, and Champions League football.

But there is a feeling at the club that he still needs to add a few more world class players to the side in order to get back challenging for that Premier League, and Muller has been on the shopping list of Arsenal’s now for some time, especially after reports emerged suggesting he could quit Bayer.

After 19 years with the club, Bild report that Muller has decided to leave after growing tired of a lack of playing time under Kovac, as Muller has started just three league games this term and has lost his spot in the side to Philippe Coutinho, who joined the club from Barcelona last summer.

The German’s current deal runs until 2021 and it has been reported that the German giants would be seeking a massive £70 million to let one of the biggest players go, especially as they will want to use those funds to help on improve the current side.

But Arsenal have been dealt a massive blow in the chase after Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has dismissed speculation the club will sell Muller in the January window, but also didn’t rule out the player leaving in the summer.

He told Sky Germany: “That’s a story you want to write [Muller being sold]. We have two players out for months and you are trying to tell us to sell a player. There’s no reason for doing this.”

Arsenal blow 2 goal lead as VAR and Xhaka take spotlight.

Once again Arsenal managed to blow away a 2-0 lead against a very average Crystal Palace side, but that was not the main focus on the game at the weekend.

We all know that Unai Emery has been heavily criticised for many of his sides performances this season and once again the Gunners failed to take all three points after taking a 2-0 lead against the Palace.

But a late VAR decision and club Captain Granit Xhaka taking all the headlines for all the wrong reasons, have been the main talking points of the game at the weekend. The video from Sky SportsSky SportsSky Sports were about to pinpoints some big issues for the Gunners, not just their issues at the back.

Arsenal should shock rivals Tottenham and snap up Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer, says Darren Bent.

Now we all know that Arsenal were linked with some of the best central defenders in the games over the summer transfer window, as reports suggested that Unai Emery was going to be massively backed in the transfer window in order to get the club back challenging for that Title.

But despite all the speculation and despite all the rumours, the Gunners chief only managed to secure deals for Kieran Tierney and Willian Saliba, while also shocking many in the Premier League and signing David Luiz from Chelsea for just £8 million right at the death of the transfer window.

But those signings have not solved their defensive issues at the club and there has been talk that Arsenal may try and sign a few players during the January window, especially if Emery wants to keep his job at the club and continue beyond the season.

And Bent has urged Arsenal to try and raid Spurs for their defender Vertonghen, who is able to talk to prospective clubs during the January window as he is out of contract at the end of the season, he told Football Insider: “Jan Vertonghen, playing at the centre of the defence, are there too many more that are going to be better than him? If you’re going to take him on a free, Arsenal could do with him.

“If he’s on a free don’t be surprised if they’re in the mix for him as well.

“I think it’s a situation they need to address but at the same time I wouldn’t want to see these players walk away for nothing.

“It’s a difficult one, they’re down to a free, they’re obviously not going to sign new contracts so what do you do?”
