Agent opens up and releases statement about the future of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal
Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is likely to remain at the Emirates Stadium, according to the player’s agent Erkut Sogut.]
Ozil is one of the Gunners biggest players and one of the best number tens in world football, when he is on top form. But he has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past 12 months as his performances in an Arsenal shirt have not matched the wages he was given under Arsene Wenger.
It was no secret that Ozil was almost out-of-contract last February before Arsenal gave in and offered him a massive £350,000-a-week deal, especially as they literally just let Alexis Sanchez leave for Manchester United and did not want to lose another big named player.
But since then his performances have been inconsistent and he has been heavily criticised for his work-rate, even being dropped by current boss Mikel Arteta, who has barely used him this season.
That has led to speculation in the media suggesting that he will be sold by the club so they can use the funds to land one of their top transfer targets, but it seems that the German has other ideas.
Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut, insists his client will be staying at Arsenal beyond the European transfer window: “I do not think there will be a change in the case of Mesut Ozil until the summer of 2021,” Sogut told Turkish publication Fanatik.
“He has a contract. There is no change. He will remain in Arsenal.”
The reason that Ozil will be staying at the club is simply because he is getting a nice big wage that no other club wants to pay, and he knows that he will not get that at any other club.
It is a smart move to stay an collect those wages, but it pretty much ends him time at the very top of the game.
