Arsenal video highlights, Emery told to get German deal done, Should Arsenal sign Prem star after being told to make move
Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news from icfootballnews.
PARLOUR CALLS FOR ARSENAL TO SELL OZIL
Gunners hero Ray Parlour has urged Arsenal to get rid of German midfielder Mesut Ozil during the January window.
It was no secret that Ozil was almost out-of-contract before Arsenal gave in and offered him a massive £350,000-a-week deal, especially as they literally just let Alexis Sanchez leave for Manchester United and did not want to lose another big named player.
And that has led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that he could be leaving the club and heading to either the Turkish League or Chinese League, as there is a lot of interest in the German despite his poor performances under Emery.
Now former hero Parlour has come out and urged the club to get rid of the German in the winter window, even though he cannot see that happening. He told TalkSport: “He won’t be sold in January so no chance of that because Ozil won’t go nowhere,”
“Should he be sold? Yes, he should be. If you’re not going to play him on a regular basis you might as well get rid of him, yeah.”
However, former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher believes that it is time for Emery to bring Ozil back in from the cold after he put in an impressive display against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in the 5-5 thriller.
He told the Sky Sports website: “I said before the game that Ozil should run the game, he’s a World Cup winner playing against younger players. He was really good and his role in both goals was fantastic, he showed his class and composure.
“I’m not Ozil’s biggest fan but you cannot tell me he is not good enough to get into this Arsenal team, this isn’t a great Arsenal team. The criticism with Ozil is whether he can take Arsenal to the Premier League title or the Champions League, but at the moment they are trying to get into the top four so he has to be in their team or best XI.
“No one is doing anything consistent for Arsenal at the moment, not just Ozil. Arsenal are in a position where so many players are not at the top of their game that they almost have to put up with what Ozil doesn’t do.
“Forget about playing him in the big games, play him against the likes of Crystal Palace, who they let a two-goal lead slip against on Sunday, and see out games. If you look at the front three, I am sure they would love to have Ozil feeding them.”
SHOULD ARSENAL SIGN VERTONGHEN FROM TOTTENHAM?
Arsenal should shock rivals Tottenham and snap up Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer, says Darren Bent.
Now we all know that Arsenal were linked with some of the best central defenders in the games over the summer transfer window, as reports suggested that Unai Emery was going to be massively backed in the transfer window in order to get the club back challenging for that Title.
But despite all the speculation and despite all the rumours, the Gunners chief only managed to secure deals for Kieran Tierney and Willian Saliba, while also shocking many in the Premier League and signing David Luiz from Chelsea for just £8 million right at the death of the transfer window.
But those signings have not solved their defensive issues at the club and there has been talk that Arsenal may try and sign a few players during the January window, especially if Emery wants to keep his job at the club and continue beyond the season.
And Bent RECENTLY urged Arsenal to try and raid Spurs for their defender Vertonghen, who is able to talk to prospective clubs during the January window as he is out of contract at the end of the season, he told Football Insider: “Jan Vertonghen, playing at the centre of the defence, are there too many more that are going to be better than him? If you’re going to take him on a free, Arsenal could do with him.
“If he’s on a free don’t be surprised if they’re in the mix for him as well.
“I think it’s a situation they need to address but at the same time I wouldn’t want to see these players walk away for nothing.
“It’s a difficult one, they’re down to a free, they’re obviously not going to sign new contracts so what do you do?”
ARSENAL VS WOLVES.
Arsenal surrendered another lead as Raul Jimenez earned Wolves a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, handed the armband in Granit Xhaka’s absence, had given Arsenal a first-half lead but Jimenez’s 76th-minute header levelled things up to add to the pressure on Unai Emery.
The result is another disappointing one for fans to take and leaves Arsenal in fifth position stuck on seventeen points. But here are the highlights anyways guys
