£20m rated Real Madrid target Palacios confirms Arsenal are interested in summer deal
Ezequiel Palacios has confirmed Arsenal are interested in signing him this summer window.
There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media suggesting that Unai Emery is keen to acquire a number of players over the next few months in hope of getting Arsenal back inside the Champions League places and not playing in the Europa League.
And one name that has been linked with a shock move to the Emirates over the past few weeks is that of Palacios, who has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the game over the past 12 months.
The River Plate star looked set to sign for Real Madrid earlier this year, but no deal was completed and Los Blancos were expected to revive their interest this summer.
However, the Gunners have moved to the front of the queue for Palacios, and his agent, Renato Corsi, has confirmed the 20-year-old WILL be playing in Europe next season.
Asked about his future this week, Palacios revealed on the Daily Express Arsenal were one of his suitors: ‘I’m proud clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal are interested in me.’
Though Real agreed a £20m fee last year, Palacios’s release clause stands at a reported £18m
Emery will need to delve into his transfer kitty to sign some much needed quality in his squad, as he does not have the right squad to push on from this season and challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title, which is ultimately the Gunners target.
And although Palacios has been showing great potential and is destined for a move to Europe, it will be a good few seasons before he comes good in the Premier League and Arsenal need players that can come in and add quality to the side now.
Emery should focus on big-time players and then add depth to his side with the money left over, not the other way round.
