Mikel Arteta told to sign up sign gifted Midfielder after brilliant Arsenal start
Mikel Arteta has been encouraged to sign a new midfielder for Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Arteta was given alot of money in the transfer window to add some proven top-level players to the squad that would help them back into the Champions League by the end of the season
Players like Oleksander Zinchenko – Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira have all come into the club and given Arteta the boost that he needed – and they could end up challenging for that Premier League title by the end of the year.
However – the club need to add some more depth to the squad and club legend Ray Parlour has now encouraged the club to sign a new midfielder: ‘January will be important for a lot of clubs, we all know how important that transfer window can be,’ Parlour told talkSPORT.
‘There might be a bit of money there for Mikel Arteta to say, “Right, we need another midfielder”.
‘We need a Youri Tielemans, like when they tried to get him before.”
Discussing Arsenal’s brilliant start to the 2022-23 season, Parlour added: ‘All I can say if I’m enjoying it, it’s great to watch. Every single fan I’ve spoke to is saying it’s great, it’s fantastic.
‘And a lot of people were questioning Mikel Arteta and whether he was doing the right thing. They were massive decisions he made about [Mesut] Ozil, [Sead] Kolasinac, [Shkodran] Mustafi, [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang.
‘That was his first job he had to do and he did it very well. Now he’s got a team that are all pulling together, everyone’s going the same way.
‘You can see certain players have upped their game as well. Just look at Granit Xhaka’s, he’s been absolutely brilliant this year.’
