Thomas Partey is impressed that Arsenal managed to keep hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer.
After months and months and month and MONTHS of transfer speculation in the media, Arsenal finally convinced Aubameyang to sign a new contract at the Emirates and stay for a further three seasons, despite the fact Barcelona and Juventus were keen on a deal.
It’s something that left Arsenal fans rejoicing and was arguably the most important deal that Mikel Arteta could have pulled off, especially as the Gabon hitman won them the FA Cup and Community Shield over the last few months.
And after seeing Arsenal get a deal wrapped up, Partey believes that keeping hold of the striker will help the Gunners become title contenders once again, which their new signing says he’s targeting.
“Yes, it helps me understand that the club wants to achieve greater things and for me it is great to play alongside great players like him,” Partey told the media at his Arsenal unveiling.
“This (winning the Premier League title) is our new objective. That’s the objective of the club, of me myself and I think that we have to get back to where we belong.
“It’s something that is difficult and we all know that it’s difficult, but we’re working towards it and I think we are ready. We have to go all out and try to achieve all of that ourselves.”
Thomas Partey has been backed for major success at Arsenal by countryman Nii Lamptey – the first Ghanaian to play in the Premier League.
We all know that Mikel Arteta wanted to add a bit more defensive quality to his midfield over the summer transfer window, and we all know that Partey was the man that he wanted the most to add to his squad.
We also know that a deal was done, that Partey was given a big-time contract and that many Arsenal fans are excited to see just what the former Madrid man will bring to this midfield after making a very good name for himself over in Spanish football.
Now, the first Ghanaian to play in the Premier League has had his say on Partey’s move to the Emirates, and has assured the Arsenal fans that the new £45 million signing will be a massive success in the Premier League, Lamptey, 45, told Accra’s City TV: “Partey now has to fasten his seat belt.
“His move to Arsenal is good for Ghana. That is because after myself, Tony Yeboah, Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan and the others, the amount of Ghanaians in the Premier League has reduced.
“But now Jordan Ayew [at Crystal Palace] and Partey have taken over . I wish him all the best. I know the challenge is going to be tough.
“But I am sure he is mature enough. He has played at the highest level, so he should be able to face it.”
Spanish journalist Jose Damian Gonzalez, of TV show El Chiringuito, has surprised Arsenal fans with his claim about Thomas Partey.
Arsenal were in the transfer headlines for months regarding a possible move to try and sign Partey, but the fans had to wait until transfer deadline day before they could officially welcome their new powerful signing.
It is believed that he will earn a massive £200,000-a-week at the Emirates, after the Gunners board stepped up and finally agreed to meet his £45 million release clause, and many people are excited about the signing from Madrid.
Atletico Madrid are unhappy with the midfielder for leaving the club in a deadline day deal, as they did not want to let the player leave the club, and after seeing the move take place, Gonzalez reckons Thomas did not leave to improve his trophy prospects.
He was quoted on the SUN: “Thomas left for the money. Everyone, in all professions, wants to earn as much as possible, but he went for the money.
“I’ll say it now and I’ll stick by it: Atlético are a better team than Arsenal.”
Money may have played a big factor for leaving Madrid and making the move to Arsenal, but Partey wanted to play in the Premier League and Arsenal are the right club for him, they play the game that he likes.
Mesut Ozil wants Mikel Arteta to remember that he is still a good player, amid reports that he is no longer wanted at the Emirates.
Ozil has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months as there has been constant speculation in the media that he is no longer wanted at the club and they are seeking to offload his services this summer.
He has not featured for the club again this season and has already been left out a number of first-team squads, adding fuel to the fire that he will be leaving the club this month or in the January transfer window.
However, Ozil does not want to leave Arsenal without a fight and the German has now taken to twitter to show the manager what he might be missing after A video compilation of Ozil’s display under the Spaniard was posted on Twitter by the user, OzilThings, and the German retweeted it with the caption:
“#startof2020 ⚽️💥 #throwback #M1Ö #YaGunnersYa”
Look, there is no doubt that on his day Ozil can be one of the very best and most creative players at the club, but since he signed that £350,000-a-week contract to stay at Arsenal a few seasons ago, he just doesnt put in the effort.
It is very easy to see just why Mikel Arteta leaves him out of the club and it was a shame that he could not get a move away in the summer window, but if Ozil is given a chance, he may put in a good performance or two, and then go back to his old ways.
Arsenal are evolving without the German and getting rid of all the negative headlines that comes with him should have been a priority in the summer.
So it will be interesting to see where he goes next in the January window, as there are a few clubs interested, but none of them are from top-level clubs.
