£40m rated La Liga star opens up on making possible move to Arsenal this summer

Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey has admitted that he is unsure if he will be leaving the Spanish giants in the summer, with Arsenal linked with a possible transfer deal.

Gunners boss Unai Emery is still expected to do a number of transfer deals when the summer window opens up in just a few months time, as he looks to build on his impressive start to the new season and maybe push for more than just a top four spot and Champions League football.

And he was linked with a move for Partey in the summer, before opting to buy Lucas Torreira and Mateo Guendouzi, but with Aaron Ramsey leaving the club at the end of the seasom to join Italian giants Juventus, Emery is keen to reignite his interest in the Madrid midfielder.

According to recent reports, the Ghana international is considering his future and has already been the subject of Premier League interest with several clubs having been alerted to his €50 million buy-out clause.

Now the midfielder has opened the door to a possible transfer deal by admitting that has has no idea whether or not he will stay at Madrid this summer.

‘It’s hard for me to talk about transfers because the next minute it will be like ‘Thomas is trying to leave’ but for me playing football is what makes me happy,’ Partey told the BBC.

‘I keep saying I am lucky to be at this level now because I know people who play harder and worker harder than me but are nowhere close to being here.

‘I don’t know what the future holds for me but as long as I play and they are happy with me here then there is no need flirting with others.

‘So the only thing that would make me unhappy will be not playing.

‘I think most footballers can understand that not playing is the greatest torture any professional footballer can go through.’

Now Partey is not the most exciting player to watch and he may not add the kind of creativity that Aaron Ramsey brought to the side, but he could be cheap and he would add strength in depth to the Arsenal squad, which is needed considering Emery has a long season pushing for a top four spot.
