Ex-Gunners star tells Mikel Arteta to sign £60 million striker for Arsenal
Emmanuel Petit has been the latest name to tell Arsenal to make a move to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this summer.
Kai Havertz’s form improved towards the end of his first campaign at the Emirates Stadium in a false nine role, while Arteta will hope Gabriel Jesus recovers from the injury struggles the impacted his influence during the run-in.
Watkins was in fantastic form for Villa this season, breaking the 20 goal barrier in the Premier League and is now rated as one of the best finishers in the Premier League and a man that could lead that ARSENAL attack.
But with The Gunners are looking to strengthen their forward line before the end of the transfer window – Petit has opened up and claimed that Arsenal should sign Watkins as he would be a great signing for the club.
Speaking to Gambling Zone, Emmanuel Petit said: “Signing a striker should be Arsenal’s number one priority in the transfer window. They need someone that is good in the air and can also be physically imposing.”
The Frenchman added: “I’m a huge fan of Ollie Watkins. I love him! He’s strong physically. He has the pace to run in behind defenders. He’s able to fight with two defenders all the time and can hold up the ball.
“I think he would be perfect for the football that Arsenal play. He has the ability to play one-on-one combinations and I think he would fit like a glove into an Arsenal team and system…”

Watkins is brilliant and would be a great signing for ARSENAL – but we simply cannot see Aston Villa letting their star man leave the club at this stage of the transfer window – and with such a big season for the club ahead.
