Rashford talks opened, Petit rips Gunners, £87m Koulibaly boost in Arsenal Tuesday news and gossip

Here is the daily roundup of Arsenal news gossip and transfer speculation.

Gunners legend Emmanuel Petit has slammed Arsenal and asked what the point in sacking Arsene Wenger was.

After another diappointing season and more calls from fans to sack Wenger last season, the Frenchman made the decision to pack his bags and leave the club after more than twenty years of service, in which he led the club to ten trophies.

And the Gunners moved swiftly to appoint Spanish boss Unai Emery from PSG, with the former Sevilla coach having a good reputation of winning silverware and playing the kind of football that the Gunners needed to challenge for a top four spot.

However, Petit has not been impressed by the Spaniard this season, and after another disappointing transfer window, in which they only managed to bring in Denis Suarez on loan, the Frenchman has hit out at hius former club.

‘The frustration level must be very high for Emery,’ Petit told the Irish Independent.

‘In only his second transfer window as Arsenal manager, he was told he cannot sign anybody.

‘You look at the money Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City spend and unless you join them and put the cash on the table to compete for the best players, you are going nowhere.

‘Tottenham are not spending money, but they are in the position Arsenal were in a few years ago building a stadium, but there is no excuse for Arsenal now.

‘If you sack Arsene Wenger and then say to the guy who replaces him you have no money to spend on new players, I would ask what was the point of sacking Wenger in the first place?’

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to suffer a blow in their chase for Marcus Rashford, as he is all set to sign a new deal with Manchester United.

Rashford has endured a difficult season this year for United, having fallen out of favour with former United boss Jose Mourinho, who claimed that the Englishman didnt have the ability to score goals on a regular basis.

His frsutrations on the pitch and with Mourinho led to speculation that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool could swoop in and offer him a way out of Old Trafford with an offer in excess of £100 million, with reports suggesting both clubs are extremely interested in a potential deal.

However, the England international has played a starring role since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge, and the Sky Sports website has claimed he is now set to sign a big United deal that will double his current salary to around £150,000-a-week.

United hope the offer of a new deal with stave off interest from the continenet, with the Englishman in his final 18-months of his current deal.

Arsenal should make a move for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, as his former agent gave Premier League clubs a huge boost.

Centre-back Koulibaly is much sought after and has been linked with a move to Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid over the past few months after impressing on a number of ocassions for the Italian side, who currently value him at £100 million.

Arsenal were keen on the Senegal international last summer but a deal failed to materialise as Unai Emery did not have the required funds to complete a deal for the Seria A powerhouse, especially as he spent all his money on the likes of Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Sokratis.

However, Kouliably’s former agent has revealed on French TV that the imposing defender could be available for a slightly lower figure – still a massive £87.5m – at the end of the season, which has alerted a number of clubs in the Premier League.

“PSG already have plenty of central defenders,” Bruno Satin told was quoted on the Sky Sports website

“Maybe he can play at No.10, they already play Marquinhos at No.6.

“But if Koulibaly leaves [Napoli], he will not come to PSG.

“His transfer could cost €100m (£87.5m).”
