Poch asks for 20-goal signing – Chelsea now free to sign £60M man – Blues target told he can leave Madrid

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –

Mauricio Pochettino has already identified the striker he wants to sign for CHELSEA this summer ahead, and it is Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez.

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel had a number of targets on the shopping list over the summer as he looked wot add a world class striker to the side – and Chelsea were linked with numerous players – but couldn’t get a deal done

They had to wait until the very last minute of the transfer window to get the striker that Tuchel wanted – and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was signed by the Blues.

However – it is believed that incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino will look to add another striker to the attack at the end of the season – as he has been promised by Ted Boehly that there will be funds available to sign the players he wants

Pochettino is believed to have secured a significant say over Chelsea’s transfer strategy and, according to the Daily Mail, will push to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Inter forward is just three goals behind Osimhen in the scoring charts, with his latest strike against Sassuolo taking him to 20 goals for the season.

World Cup winner Martinez also has five assists, meaning he has averaged a goal involvement every 96 minutes, while he has netted twice in the Champions League.

And if you believe the words of Iomie Stanley – he would be the answer to the clubs striker issues

He told IcFootballnews: ‘Martinez is certainly one of the very best strikers on the planet and a man that many top clubs would love to have in the squad.

‘He has said recently that he is happy at Milan and is not thinking about leaving the club anytime soon – but that will change when a big offer is placed on the table.

‘He knows that he could get £250,000-a-week in wages joining a club like Chelsea – get a massive signing on bonus and knows that he would be the main man at Stamford Bridge.

‘Graham Potter will have the funds to sign a striker that has the ability at the highest level of the game and Martinez is one of those Forwards.

CAICEDO BOOST –

Roberto De Zerbi has admitted Brighton could lose key player and CHELSEA target Moises Caicedo this summer.

Chelsea are very much interested in a deal for the impressive Caicedo – as they feel that they need to add another box-to-box midfielder to the squad to help ease the pressure on their midfield

Chelsea had a £60million opening offer knocked back in the January window for the 21-year-old with Albion owner Tony Bloom not wanting to sell – but the Blues will look to add to their squad at the end of the summer and he is on the shopping list.

He has also featured on the wishlists of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, although the latter have been positively pitching to Alexis Mac Allister’s camp. The Argentina international is high on Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist of targets.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Brighton’s stunning 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates, head coach De Zerbi said: “For sure, we will lose some players.

“Maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister. We have to be ready to bring in other good players.

“For the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan, I think for them the best solution is to stay with us. I don’t know if they are ready to play in the big teams yet. We can offer them the opportunity to progress and improve.”

Despite the fact that Caicedo is a very good footballer – he is not worth the money that is being talked about – this is crazy. Why spend so much money on a player that will probably be on the bench?

He has been very good for Brighton this season – but it is a massive step up to play for a club like CHELSEA, especially with everything that is going on with the Blues.

FERLAND MENDY BOOST

CHELSEA are on alert after Ferland Mendy was told he can leave Real Madrid this summer, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Chelsea have had a season to forget under new owners Ted Boehly and company – and will need to freshen up the side once the summer transfer window opens up.

Incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino will want to sign players that will bring in some desire and quality in key areas of the pitch – and dorting out a back-line that has conceded too many goals will be on the agenda of the Argentine boss

Real have told Mendy’s representatives there will be no new offer from the Bernabeu and that they are free to find him a new home. The player is looking for a three-year deal and the Blues will be offered the chance to sign him.

The Spanish giants need to move players on to create space in their squad and help fund new signings, and the 27-year-old, whose contract is due to run until 2025, is one of those deemed surplus to requirements.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and even Manchester United have also all been linked with a move for the star

If the reports are true and Madrid have informed Mendy that he is free to leave at the end of the season – he would be a brilliant addition to that Chelsea squad.

He is talented and has alot of potential – he is certainly the type of player that Mauricio Pochettino  loves to have in his squads.

So as we said – he could be a great signing for the club, and the reports that Madrid want to get rid may mean that Chelsea could get him for a decent price.
