Pochettino confirms £72M star will be a Chelsea player this summer!

Mauricio Pochettino has pretty much declared that Kepa will be his number one stopper this coming season.

Spain international Arrizabalaga has endured a turbulent spell at Stamford Bridge following his record-breaking £72m move from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 and has been in and out of the side.

He has been given a new lease of life at Stamford Bridge over the past 12 months – but that has not stopped all the speculation suggesting that he is a player that CHELSEA are open to letting leave.

However – it now seems that Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to retain his role as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper as boss Mauricio Pochettino wants the Spaniard to stay put at Stamford Bridge after his impressive performances in pre-season.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

“We are so happy with him. He is showing great commitment in adapting to new demands from Toni, from the coaching staff, and the goalkeeping coach, him and Hilario are working.

“We are so happy with him and he is a fantastic keeper.”

Kepa is a very good stopper that should be world class by now – but he is not and he keeps making mistakes that are costing the club vital points.

We agree with the rumours and the club need to cash in while they still can – and try to sign a more world class goalkeeper that will make a difference in tight games.

But if Pochettino wants to give him a chance in the side next season – then we are sure that it will happen as the board will want to keep the new manager happy.

There ate still some big names being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge – but if CHELSEA can save a bit of money by giving Kepa a real chance in the side – then it could be a very smart idea.
