Portuguese boss admits ‘special’ Manchester United target could leave in January

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira hopes that Manchester United and Arsenal target Matheus Cunha will stay with the club – but admits the forward could get “opportunities” to move away from Molineux in the future.

Cunha has been in brilliant form this season for Wolves and there has been alot of speculation that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in a move when the January window opens up in just a few days time.

Cunha got a goal and an assist against Manchester United in Wolves’ 2-0 win over Ruben Amorim’s side on Boxing Day – to make it 14 goal involvements in 18 matches this season.

And with newspaper reports linked Cunha with a January move to Arsenal and United, Pereira admits he hopes Cunha will stay with the club – but admits the forward could get “opportunities” to move away from Molineux in the future.

“I hope that he stays with us for a long time but I understand that a special player will have opportunities for sure in his career,” said the Portuguese boss of Cunha.

However, Cunha recently admitted that he feels settled and seemingly unfazed by rumours linking him with a January move: ‘I feel like it’s my home,’ Cunha told Wolves’ official website.
