£10M-a-season man announces ‘he is impressed’ after holding talks with Chelsea owner Boehly

Graham Potter has hailed the start of an ‘exciting’ era at Chelsea under owner Todd Boehly.

Potter is regarded as one of the most talented young managers in the Premier League and a boss that has really helped develop Brighton into one of the most attractive sides to watch in the English game

Buth the opportunity to manage Chelsea does not come around too often for a young boss like him and after the club decided to sack Thomas Tuchel – it was only a few days of talks before the Blues announced they had a new coach

What has he said?

And Potter is excited what the future holds for his new side, telling Chelsea’s in-house medial channel: ‘It’s the start of a really exciting period, I think.

‘New ownership, who I was really, really excited with and impressed by, firstly as people and then their vision for the club and what they wanted to do.

‘Of course the history of the club speaks for itself but it’s about trying to create that again in our own way.’

He penned an open letter to Brighton fans, explaining his decision to leave the south coast club for Stamford Bridge.

‘For some I recognise that the change that comes so suddenly in football can be hard to accept,’ he wrote on Brighton’s website.

‘I may not be able to persuade you all to forgive my departure – but I would at least like to take the chance to say thank you.

‘I will cherish the relationships I built in all aspects of the club. My players went above and beyond. My staff gave everything. At the heart of it were the Albion fans.’
