Powerhouse will be a Gooner – Director confirms £40M man could join Arsenal – Arteta shuts down exit talk
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed toay –
ARSENAL boss Mikel Arteta has attempted to shut out talk of Kieran Tierney joining Newcastle or Celtic by insisting: “he is in our plans.”
A few seasons ago – Tierney was a player that the fans loved and that Mikel Arteta really relied on – but injuries have really ruined his time at the Emirates and he has really struggled for game time.
That has led to constant speculation in the media that he is one player that will be leaving the club – with the likes of West Ham and Newcastle two clubs that are interested in a possible deal.
Scotland star Tierney has made no public suggestion he wants to leave, despite Oleksandr Zinchenko being clear first-choice for the left-back role, and although the Gunners would be happy to offload more squad members following their £200million three-player spree, boss Arteta has sent a clear transfer message.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
The Spaniard said: “Every time he’s played in pre-season, he’s been really good.
“We want to create competition in the team, raise the level of each individual, and that’s going to be a huge benefit for the team to get to another level.”
SHOULD TIERNEY LEAVE THE CLUB?
The short answer is yes he should.
He is now well down the pecking order at ARSENAL and will struggle to make an impact next season – and he needs to be playing at this stage of his career.
There are some decent teams interested – so a move may be a very good idea.
But now that Arteta has come out again and revealed that Tierney is wanted at the club – he will probably stay and fight for his place in the side – knowing he has the quality to displace Zinchenko
KUDUS BOOST –
Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat has admitted Mohammed Kudus could leave the club amid interest from Arsenal.
After a stunning season for Ajax last year – in which he netted an impressive 18 goals – Kudus has become a player that both Chelsea and ARSENAL are very much interested in signing this summer window.
It is believed that both clubs are willing to pay that £40 million asking price – and now Mislintat admitted the club have been contacted by interested parties but are still awaiting a concrete offer for Kudus.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
‘There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world,’ Mislintat told Ajax Life.
‘Perhaps the interest in not as serious as everyone thinks.’
Mislintat says it is possible both players could leave but warns the longer clubs leave it, the higher their asking price will be.
‘There is no fixed deadline, but there are agreements we must have to get replacements if we have not already done so proactively’ he told Aglemeen Dagblad. Their stay or sale also depends on what we will do next.
‘The best thing for is if Kudus and Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players. But it is also possible that one goes, or both.
‘It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.’
WOULD HE BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR ARSENAL?
ARSENAL have done some wonderful transfer business already this season – and Kudus would be the icing on the cake as the man has the ability to play in a number of positions.
PARTEY STAYING –
Arsenal are not interested in signing Romeo Lavia as they have decided to keep hold of Thomas Partey.
Partey has been a player that has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer after the club decided to bring in Decaln Rice from West Ham in a deal that cost the club £105 million.
A move to Italian football or Saudi Arabia has been mooted for the midfielder – with all suggestions that ARSENAL would accept a fee of around £40 million for Partey this summer.
And it had been claimed in the media that Arsenal would use those funds in order to make a move for the much-hyped midfielder Lavia – who is wanted by the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.
WHAT IS THE LATEST.
However – Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says the Gunners are “not active” in the hunt for the Southampton star because Thomas Partey is now expected to stay.
Mikel Arteta believes that Partey will have a big part to play in his side next season and wants to keep the powerhouse.
‘Thomas Partey is a super important player for us and for me and we want him to be in the team, that’s for sure,’ said Arteta recently
Asked if Partey and Rice could feature in the same starting XI this season, he added: ‘Yeah, they can play together and that was in my plans.
‘If you want to improve the squad and have more quality, we need players that can play together, but we need players in the same position that have to fight for their places.
‘It’s something that we haven’t had over the last few years and we wanted to improve that, and that’s why we brought Declan as well.’
SHOULD ARSENAL KEEP PARTEY?
Look, ARSENAL should be involved in alot of games this coming season – so need all the players that they can.
