Prem star told ‘its time to join Chelsea’, Maresca drops big transfer hint, Chelsea make £90M January decision
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed from icfootballnews…
Chelsea are not looking to sign a striker in January, ending their long-term interest in Victor Osimhen unless Christopher Nkunku is sold according to the latest reports in the media this weekend.
Osimhen was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the course of the summer window, as CHELSEA were desperate to add a striker to their attack before the season started, many reports in the media suggested.
But despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation that he could be heading to Chelsea – Osimhen never made that move to London as his asking price was far too high and in the end, he ended up making a loan move to Galatasaray.
According to reports, the only way they may dip into the market for a striker is if Christopher Nkunku is sold in the coming months, freeing up funds and space for a replacement.
Nkunku has been in brilliant form for Chelsea this season, but is going getting game time in Europe and the cup competitions as Enzo Maresca prefers to play Nicolas Jackson in the Premier League on a weekly basis.

There is no doubt about it – Osimhen is one of the best strikers in Europe and a man that Chelsea fans wanted to see arrive – so many were shocked when that switch to Galatasaray happened.
Osimhen moved because he wanted game time and that is what he is getting – Napoli would probably have loved to keep the player – but at the end of the day – he just wanted minutes.
If the reports are true and CHELSEA have made the decision not to sign a striker in the January window, it makes alot of sense considering just how attacking quality the Blues have to choose from.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out as many Blues fans would like to see Osimhen get signed as soon as possible
KELLEHER TOLD ITS TIME TO JOIN CHELSEA
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been told ‘it’s time’ to think about leaving Anfield and that joining CHELSEA would be a superb ‘opportunity’ for both parties, as the Blues are in need of adding a quality stopper to that squad.
LIVERPOOL made the big decision in the summer to wrap up the signing of Mamardashvili amid all the speculation over the long-term future of Alisson, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia for months.
iverpool are reluctant to sell Kelleher to a direct rival but would still likely accept an offer in the region of £35million, but the stopper has made no secret of his desire to be the first-choice goalkeeper somewhere after spending the past five and a half seasons as a back-up option behind Alisson Becker.
It is no secret that CHELSEA are looking at adding a new stopper to the side in the upcoming transfer window, and the likelihood is that Alisson will come straight back in, leaving Kelleher in a position that he has previously complained about and suggested would force his hand in the pursuit of regular first-team football.
As a result, ex-England striker Darren Bent believes Chelsea should swoop for Kelleher and also reckons it would be a good outcome for the player: ‘I always look at [Emiliano] Martinez,’ Bent told talkSPORT, comparing Kelleher to the World Cup winner who swapped Arsenal for Aston Villa back in 2020.
‘He was at Arsenal for like ten years and finally got an opportunity at the end, done incredibly well, won the FA Cup, was brilliant.
‘[Bernd] Leno comes back [from injury], they sell him. Then obviously he [Martinez] leaves, the rest is history, wins the World Cup, is at a fantastic club in Aston Villa.
‘I think Kelleher is a very good goalkeeper. He’s 25, it’s time now, let’s get going now, do you know what I mean? I think there’s an opportunity there [at Chelsea].
‘I’m not convinced on [Robert] Sanchez if I’m honest, he makes some unbelievable saves… But I think him [Kelleher] going in there, [for] £35m, that’s not even a risk I don’t think.’
MARESCA DROPS SANCHO HINT
Enzo Maresca has dropped the biggest hint that he may decide to keep on-loan Manchester United star Jadon Sancho at CHELSEA beyond the season, admitting that he is the type of player the club needs.
Jadon Sancho was hailed as one of the brightest talents in football during his time with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and his performances earned him a massive £85 million move to Manchester United, despite the interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.
However – poor performances, a falling out with ex-United boss Erik Ten Hag meant that his time at Old Trafford was done and Chelsea made the big decision to bring him to London on a loan until the end of the season, a move that shocked many in the Premier League.
The winger has been decent at times, but has struggled to get into the starting eleven side on a regular basis and there has been many Blues fans wondering why Enzo Maresca brought the winger to the club, but the Italian has revealed why he was signed by the club after the Blues European win at Heidenheim during the week.
‘It’s very important he was back,’ he said. ‘I have said since we started that Jadon is very important for us. He has to be fit mentally and physically, because he is going to help us a lot.
‘Unfortunately we couldn’t use him for a few games, but last night he showed again how important he is for us.
‘He is what we need, especially against a team that defends with a low block. We need that quality in the last third, the last pass and he can shoot, sometimes he will shoot more than he did against Heidenheim. But I think he is going to help us a lot.’

At time Sancho can be brilliant and looks like the player he was in the Bundesliga, if Maresca can get the best out of the winger, he could produce 20 goals a season every year, he seems lot more happy at CHELSEA than he was in Manchester.
There has been some talk that he could stay at the end of the season, but it seems that Maresca is a big fan and would like to see Sancho stay if the chance was there.
