President has flown to London to conclude stars move to Arsenal!
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has reportedly flown to London to try and conclude a deal for Mikel Merino to Arsenal from the La Liga club and give Mikel Arteta the signing he has been craving for
The Premier League season is just a few days away from starting but the transfer window still has plenty of time left for Mikel Arteta to get the deals done that will help improve that Gunners squad.
Mikel Merino is a player that ARSENAL have been linked wit for weeks and is a player that Arteta is really keen on signing – but the Gunners have so far failed to wrap up a transfer deal for the Spanish star.
However – According to AS, Arsenal and his club Real Sociedad are working on a deal worth £30million and a move to the Emirates could be only a few hours away as both clubs are very close to an agreement for the star.
Now – Aperribay was claimed by Spanish reporters to have touched down in the capital to finalise a deal that La Real wish to see at €35million plus €5million in add-ons (£29.9million plus £4.3million)
Bacary Sagna recently told Arsenal to go all out and sign the midfielder this summer as he would be a brilliant addition to that Gunners midfield – Speaking to Paddy Power, he said: “Mikel Merino is another good footballer, and we saw how important he was during the Euros for Spain.
‘He’s been linked with Arsenal for a while, and he’s got quality to add to the club. I’m not surprised Arsenal are in for him because Arteta will have been following him.
“He’s someone who can adapt to any club and he’s a bit like İlkay Gündoğan because he arrivces in the box at the right moment and we saw him do that for Spain. ARSENAL need to double up in that position [centre midfield] and he’s one of them who would be a big addition to the squad.
“They need players like that and need competition in the squad. If it happens, it would be very promising to start the season like these.”
