President sends strong transfer statement to Arsenal over deal for brilliant 16 assists star
Athletic Bilbao president Jon Uriarte has admitted the Spanish club are under no pressure to sell Arsenal target Nico Williams this summer.
The Spain international, who has impressed at Euro 2024, has been linked with ARSENAL and other Premier League clubs after an impressive campaign at club level as many prepare to make offers for the winger at the end of Euros 2024.
However – responding to recent speculation over Williams’ future, Bilbao’s president said: “Nico is a footballer very committed to Athletic Club, who has been subjected to an excessive and uncontrolled bombardment of questions while at the Euro Cup. The Spanish Federation has not known how to protect him.
“Athletic aims for the maximum, without limits. We are showing that we have a winning project for footballers and coaches.
“We have renewed the contracts of players who are playing in the Euro Cup, such as Unai Simón or Dani Vivian, and coveted players such as Benat Prados, Oihan Sancet, Julen Aggirezabala or Aitor Paredes have also signed for several seasons, to give some examples.
“Athletic Club is economically, socially and sportingly capable of keeping footballers of the calibre of those named in its structure, including Nico Williams.”

Williams seems very happy at Bilbao – he has shown no real desire to want to leave the Spanish side – but if the right club comes calling – if the right amount of offer is made – Bilbao will change their stance.
There will surely be some offers arrive in the coming weeks because Williams has been brilliant for the past 12 months – if ARSENAL managed to sign the player – he would be a game-changer for the club and that attack next season.
