Lampard ‘sanctions’ Chelsea deal, Italian claims striker to sign up with Blues as deal close, and Pulisic has big Chelsea message
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icfootballnews.com
Christian Pulisic has admitted he is not worried by the fact he has failed to open his account in a Chelsea shirt.
The 21-year-old has struggled to nail down a place at Chelsea, despite being tipped to be the ideal Eden Hazard replacement, and has already vented his frustrations at being dropped from the Chelsea starting line-up over the past few weeks, but despite his troubles at the club, he looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Boss Frank Lampard has come out and even refused to entertain the idea that Chelsea could let one of the most exciting young players in the game leave the club, even on a loan basis to get some regular game time under his belt, halving only played ten minutes of action in the last four Premier League games for the Blues.
‘No,’ was Lampard’s reply when asked if Pulisic could be loaned out ‘With Christian he’s come to us in a big move, let’s make no mistake about it, and then he’s just turned 21 recently, and we’ve got a competitive squad here.
‘I said it before the last game, I always have a problem who to pick and people make my decisions in training or how they’re playing, and at the minute with winning four on the bounce I need the edge of staying in the team and keep performing and everyone is the same.
‘With Christian coming here, we have to protect him for that fact because he’s young. Christian, as with every player in the squad, needs to work hard in training, keep improving in training, see the direction we’re going, be a part of it, and show what you can do on a match day, and all the players are the same there.’
Now the American has responded to some critics of his game by telling fans that he is not worried by the fact he has failed to net in his opening eight games for the Blues, although he has already created a few goals for his team-mates during his short stay with the club.
He said on the ESPN website: “It was a really good game, happy for the team, had a strong performance, they defended really well, and I was happy to make an impact. ‘I was going to shoot last-second, but I saw Tammy wide open and then DeAndre [Yedlin, Pulisic’s US team-mate] made an unbelievable block, so maybe I should have shot it.
‘I just don’t have that scoring touch but I know it will come back.’
There has been some reports in the media over the past few days which have claimed Frank Lampard is looking to sign up Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi after a recommendation from Claude Makelele.
Lampard was brought in during the summer transfer window after Maurizio Sarri decided that he had enough of the English game and swiftly made a move back to his homeland in Italy, where he took up the opportunity to manage Juventus after Max Allegri left the club.
But Lampard was unable to sign the type of players that he believed would be able to help the club in their quest to get back inside the top four spots, play Champions League football once again and possibly go on to challenge for some much needed silverware.
But there has been a suggestion in the media that Lampard may look to do some transfer business in the coming transfer windows, and has already lined up a number of possible recruits that will hopefully come in and turn this side from a top four side into challengers to Manchester City and Liverpool. And according to reports on the Daily Mirror website, Malinovskyi is no on the shopping list.
Malinovskyi has impressed in Serie A this season and Makelele has personally scouted the 26-year-old as the former Blue has been scouting for Lampard this season and watched Malinovskyi in action on international duty for Ukraine last week.
And after returning a glowing report on Malinovskyi, Chelsea have been convinced to go after the playmaker and will keep a very close eye on his development over the next few months just in case they are indeed able to acquire some players in the winter transfer market, if they can get this transfer ban shortened.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says that striker Tammy Abraham is close to finally agreeing a new contract at Chelsea.
Despite a few critical performances from Abraham at the beginning of the season, the Blues hitman has repaid the faith in him by Lampard by becoming the top scorer at Chelsea and joint top-scorer in the Premier League with 8 goals.
He also netted in the Champions League away at Lille, and his stunning form for Chelsea in the early stages of the new season saw him called up to the latest England squad, coming off the bench against Czech Republic.
His performances for Chelsea in the opening weeks of the season has also led to a lot of transfer speculation in the media that former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud could actually leave the club and seek a move elsewhere, as he is not happy with playing second fiddle to the Englishman.
Chelsea have reportedly been in talks with Abraham about a new deal for months and there is constant rumours that a deal ‘is close’, and now Italian Journalist Romano has come out and claimed that he will be rewarded with a lucrative new contract that will significantly increase his current £50k per week wage packet.
It is claimed that Abraham is all set to sign a double-your-money deal that will take him to the level of the regular Chelsea stars and will also keep him at the club until 2024, with his current contract set to run out in the summer of 2022.
“Chelsea are “close to an agreement” and “more than confident” to extend Tammy Abraham contract. Totally confirmed,” he wrote on Twitter.
