Lampard pressure after double deals, pulisic message sent, lamps asks for £45m signing, Video -Werner breaks record

Lampard under pressure after duo deals, Pulisic message sent, Lamps asks for Rice to be signed, Werner breaks record in Chelsea roundup..

Chelsea’s investment in Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will see Frank Lampard fall under more pressure at Stamford Bridge next season, says Chris Sutton.

Chelsea have already generated plenty of headlines in the transfer market having sealed the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, as they seek to close the gap on Liverpool and challenge for that Premier League title next season.

But bringing in top players, and looking to add a few more in the transfer window, means that there will be alot of pressure on Lampard to be a success at Chelsea next season, especially as they will need to win a trophy or two.

And Sutton concedes as much, with the former Chelsea striker telling TEAMtalk: “I think he has done a good job and answered some of the people who questioned whether he deserved to get the job.

“Arguably, Frank went into the first big job of his managerial career at the perfect moment.

“They had a transfer embargo to deal with, expectations were massively diluted and Lampard had time to get used to the job and the fact that Chelsea are sitting in the top four of the Premier League is a testament to the job he has done.

“Now, after the money that has been spent and the quality of the players that have been signed, there will be a very different pressure for Frank to deal with next season.

“That is the nature of the business we are in. There will be pressure when you are at a big club and the big question for Frank will be can they close the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City, who are quite a distance ahead of them at the moment. Those two teams are the benchmark at the moment.”

Frank Lampard believes Christian Pulisic is capable of reaching the goalscoring feats of Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane or Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.

The winger’s goal in Thursday’s 2-1 home win over Manchester City was his seventh in the Premier League this season and the 21-year-old is now Chelsea’s second top scorer in the league.

His performances since the return of football for Chelsea has also meant that the Blues are in a very strong position to get back inside those top four spots, and guarantee themselves Champions League football for next season.

And after being impressed with Pulisic, Lampard now wants to see Pulisic be ambitious and chase the kind of goal-scoring numbers that other top wide players are achieving.

“I think he can be a really big player,” Lampard said. “Because he broke through so young in Germany and he moves to us, people’s expectations rise, but we have to take his age into consideration.

“There’s no doubt in his quality and you can see that. He is very keen to work and improve. He is particularly hungry at the minute because of his injury. And if he wants to learn, and he does, on the training pitch and how he sees the game, he needs to look at the players he sees around him who have made that sort of jump like the Raheem Sterlings, Sadio Manes and Mo Salahs who are now producing numbers [of goals] from wide areas.

“It is important that he understands the work he needs to do to do that because he definitely has the talent to do it. He needs to try and get to that level and I am delighted to have him at the minute. He works hard every day and he has to set his sights as high as he can.”

Timo Werner scored twice against Augsburg on Saturday to become RB Leipzig’s all-time leading scorer in his final match with the club.

Werner is now regarded as one of the finest strikers in the game after a stunning season in the Bundesliga, and his performances earned him a 350 million move to Chelsea when the transfer window opens up.

But in his last game for Leipzig, The Germany international opened the scoring in the first half on Saturday, which put him on 94 goals for Leipzig – a new club record, and Werner later added a second to finish on 95 ahead of his move to Chelsea, an impending transfer that was confirmed this month.

Frank Lampard has has reportedly told Chelsea to make a transfer move to sign up Declan Rice.

Rice has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League this season and his performances has led to all sorts of rumours that he will make the step up in the summer to a bigger club.

Chelsea are still seeking to improve their side and have been linked with a move, while Manchester United are reportedly ready to pay the big money to try and nail down his signature.

But it is Chelsea that are most keen to try and nail down the signature of Rice, as they seek to continue their summer of spending.

Chelsea have already generated plenty of headlines in the transfer market having sealed the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, and now Lampard has asked the club to sign West Ham’s talisman Rice, the Sun claim

It is believed that West Ham are asking big money for their best player, but the reports suggests that Chelsea are confident that they can sign up Rice for a fee of around £45 million.

Look, Rice is a brilliantly gifted player that should be playing for a club like Chelsea, so if the reports are true and Lampard has asked the club to make a move to sign up the midfielder, then he would be a welcome addition to the side.
