Rangnick told to sell £500,000-a-week Man United pair, United tipped to sign £150m superstar and Barca fear defender heading to Old Trafford

Man United tipped to sign Haaland, Barca have Araujo fear and Rangnick told to sell duo in Manchester United roundup…

Former Manchester United man Paul Parker says new manager Ralf Rangnick should be looking to offload Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial in January

Rangnick was confirmed as the new interim United manager on Monday, and The 63-year-old will be in charge until the end of the season when he is set to hand over control of the team to a new permanent manager, who is yet to be confirmed.

The German will have his say until then and will influence the club’s work in the January transfer window, when Parker thinks he should be getting rid of Pogba and Martial.

Pogba’s contract is coming to an end in the summer and no new deal has been agreed, while Martial has not looked like a player that has the ability to play for United on a regular basis

‘Someone like him [Pogba] you don’t want around the club,’ Parker told Talking Devils. ‘You want him to go in January, take a good offer because you will get nothing six months down the line. Just take it.

‘Pogba wont be good to have around the dressing room if he’s not involved. I’m thinking about a German coach coming in and seeing Pogba. If you look at two of the top managers in the league, could Pogba play for Thomas Tuchel in the manner in which he is playing at this moment in time? Not a chance. Could he play for Liverpool? Not a chance.

‘There is no zest, no drive, no passion on a consistent basis. And consistency is key from what we see from individuals at Liverpool and Chelsea. He isn’t showing that, he wouldn’t be involved and I don’t think he fits into the incoming managers’ plans.’

‘Can you get Martial running around, closing down and doing work without the ball to benefit the team when they get the ball back? I don’t think so,’ continued Parker.

‘They are the first two, they are key ones [to go]. Both cost a lot of money but you can sit there and wait for your money but they are just going to stagnate.

‘Sour apples in the barrel which you don’t need at this moment in time, you need positivity and belief back and that is not going to happen with two people that aren’t going to be nice people to have around if they are not playing regularly.’

There are too many players at Old Trafford that are not pulling their weight and working for the team, partly because they dont want to be there. So if the right offers arrive for both players, then United should sell

They have done nothing for too long now, something needs to change

Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has backed incoming caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick to sign Erling Haaland for the Red Devils.

Michael Carrick has been in charge for the Champions League victory over Villarreal and Premier League draw with Chelsea, but United hired Rangnick this weekend to get them through to the end of the season

Rangnick signed a six-month contract with Manchester United before they appoint a permanent manager next summer, but could be moved into another role with the Red Devils following his stint as manager.

And Meulensteen, who worked under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, believes Rangnick’s ties in Germany could boost Manchester United’s chances of signing long-term transfer target Haaland.

Haaland, 21, has scored 71 goals in 70 matches for Borussia Dortmund but could be sold for around £68m next summer when his release clause kicks in.

‘Football is about relationships,’ Meulensteen told Stadium Astro. ‘We all know that Haaland is a tremendous talent with an unbelievable goalscoring record. He’s young, he’s direct, he’s quick, he’s strong.

‘I think like a lot of fans I expected him to be at Man United already because of that relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They know each other but for whatever reason it hasn’t materialised.

‘It is important that you have got good relationships. Maybe Rangnick can bring something to the table and bring someone like Haaland to Manchester United. I think that would be a big scoop.’

It goes without saying how big a signing this would be. No one can, nor would, say no to bringing the Norwegian to their club as he is one of the most deadly players in world football right now

But with other clubs also linked, United will need to guarantee the player they will be playing Champions League football and challenging for all the big titles

Can they do that right now?

Barcelona fear that Manchester United could lure defender Ronald Araujo to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

Rafa Varane is a world class defender that has been plagued by injuries, while Harry Maguire has not been the solid unit at the back that he has been over the past few seasons, meaning that a new defender will surely be signed in the January window.

And that has led to rumours that Araujo could be on his way to Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan arrived at Barca in 2018, since breaking into their first-team set-up, But with his contract set to expire in 2023, ESPN report that the Catalan giants are wary of interest from United and Liverpool potentially turning his head.

Barcelona are in financial debt and are not able to offer the kind of contracts to players that they were once able too, meaning that players like Araugo could be tempted into leaving.

IcFootballnews view and Opinion…

There is no doubt that a new manager needed to be brought in, this world class squad was going nowhere under Ole

If Rangnick gets the chance to sign a few players then adding Araujo to play alongside Varane at the back would definitely improve that back-line. He is quality

Barca do not want to lose the young man, but at the end of the day, if United offer the right money, they will get him

And fans would be very happy with that in the long run
