£51 million bargain! Real Madrid tell Arsenal asking price to land Colombian superstar James
Reports have claimed Real Madrid have stuck a £51 million asking price on Arsenal transfer target James Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is currently coming towards the end of his two-year loan spell with Bayern and there were some suggestions that they had no intention of offering him a permanent move to the Bundesliga, as he had not impressed as many had hoped.
That had led to speculation that Arsenal boss Unai Emery was looking to step in and offer the Colombian a move to the premier League, as he needs an immediate replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey, who is signing for Juventus at the end of the season.
And should he decide to leave Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the end of the season, with the Germans having first option to sign the Colombian, Madrid are set to significantly hike up his price in order to raise funds for their own summer spree, with a fee of £51 million the desired asking price, according to El Confidencial.
However, Bayern are keen to keep hold of James and recently stated that he will be at the club next season.
“The option that we have, we have to exercise by June 15th,” Rummenigge told Abendzeitung.
“So we still have plenty of time. But I have to make it quite clear that everyone here is happy with him. I firmly believe that James will also play for FC Bayern next season.”
Would James suit the style of Arsenal?
Arsenal are desperate to add a few more superstars to the squad and the chance to land James for just £51 million would be an absolute bargain. But they would have to offer the player something special to prise him away from Bayern and he is seemingly happy.
But in the transfer market anything can happen and the right offer could get Emery that big named signing he is looking for.
