Not Good enough! former Spurs man has message for Arsenal boss Emery
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed Arsenal’s squad is not good enough to get into a Champions League spot.
Despite a great start to life as boss of the Arsenal side, Unai Emery’s side fell to back-to-back away defeats in the Premier League, which has caused many to suggest the side is not good enough for a top four finish.
The defeat came just days after Unai Emery revealed Arsenal would only be active in the loan market in January, something which Redknapp believes could cost the side a top four spot.
“You can play whatever system you want but I’m not sure this Arsenal squad is good enough to get anywhere near the top four right now,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“I feel sorry for the fans. The manager said they are only going to get loans in, but other clubs at the top are always trying to progress. Arsenal is a huge club and the fans deserve better.
“With the players he’s got, Emery is going to need time and windows to bring players in. He was not left with a great squad.
“I’m not surprised they are struggling away from home because you need good players as well as being organised, and players that can do something different. At the moment the system just doesn’t seem to work.”
Can Arsenal get into a top four spot with this squad?
Arsenal have a very exciting attack and like to score goals for fun, but they are lacking quality in certain areas that need to be improved, and that could have happened this month.
They may have a real fight on their hands to get back into a top four, but if they keen picking up poor results like this one then they will not get Champions League football next season.
