Frank gets his answer as West Ham have made transfer decision about selling Rice to Chelsea this summer window
West Ham have told Chelsea Declan Rice is not for sale this summer, according to 90min.
Chelsea have done some wonderful transfer business already this summer and have built quite a squad, but there is a big feeling that they still want to add rice to the side before the end of the transfer window
The England international Rice made his over 100 appearances for the Hammers already, and he is regarded as one of the finest holding midfielders in the game after a stunning last few seasons with the club
It is believed that Lampard would like to sign Rice and turn him back into a defender at Chelsea, especially as the young man has the ability to play football from the back, but that may not happen this summer.
According to 90Min’s, Chelsea will have to line-up another transfer target, as the Hammers are determined to hold onto their man, and will not even consider letting Rice leave if Chelsea meet that £80 million asking price.
Despite the reports, a huge offer could tempt them into a rethink but with Chelsea’s hierarchy harbouring doubts and having spent over £200m already this summer, a massive offer is not expected to arrive before the end of the transfer window.
Look, Rice has proven himself over the past couple of seasons to be a classy Premier League players, and there are many out there that are keen to try and get a deal done, they just do not have the funds to make a move.
Will Chelsea make a move for Rice? Yes we believe that they will.
But they should add another defender to the side that is proven at the highest level, they already have too many midfielders in the squad that pretty much do all the same.
Rice is good, but he is not needed right now guys.
