£70m talks, Arsenal urged to sign Hammers star, Mahrez message, Griezmann hands Lacazette deal boost

Here is a roundup of the latest Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews

Long-term Arsenal target Riyad Mahrez says he has no doubts about his ability and is “very happy” at Manchester City.

Mahrez signed for City a few transfer windows ago in a deal of excess of £60 million, but he has not had the kind of game time that he believed he would be achieving under Pep Guardiola and has looked a frustrated figure this season.

That had led to speculation that Arsenal boss Unai Emery was ready to dive in and quickly offer him a way out of City, with the Spanish boss desperately keen to add some width and quality to his wings.

But as the transfer window looms, and Mahrez added another Premier League title to his collection, the winger has now claimed that he is very happy at City and has no intention of leaving the club.

“It is not easy to come to a team who are settled, who have players who play,” said Mahrez. “That squad did everything last season.

“I knew it would not be easy in my first year but I am very confident in myself and have no doubts about my quality. I knew that when I had my chance I would take it. I scored at Brighton and helped the team.

“I am very happy here. I am not going somewhere else because I don’t play. It’s part of the game. I need to be strong, stay strong. It’s part of my personality, I never hide away from things.” (Read More)

Reports have claimed Manchester United have made contact to sign Arsenal and Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe this summer window.

With the Premier League season coming to a close and the trio’s attention focusing on next season, there has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few months on whom they will look to try and acquire in the coming transfer window.

And one name that has been mentioned about a possible move to the Premier League is that of Pepe, as the 23-year-old Pepe is among the most highly-rated forwards in Europe and his transfer value is estimated at more than 50 million euros (£57 million).

Pepe has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season and has been tipped to become one of the most deadly strikers in the game, with Arsenal boss Unai Emery and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sending scouts to watch the young man on numerous occasions.

But according to Daily Record, United have identified the Ivorian as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku, whose future at Old Trafford looks increasingly uncertain, and have already made contact with Lille about as possible £70 million deal. (Read More)

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has urged Unai Emery to make a move and try to sign West Ham star Rice.

Rice has become a very in-demand star for many of the top Premier League clubs this season after another impressive season for the Hammers, with his performances even earning him his first England call-up by Gareth Southgate earlier in the season.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini recently admitted that he is unsure about what the future may hold for the 20-year-old, as speculation grows that bot Manchester United and Manchester City are readying a massive £40 million move to try and secure a transfer deal.

But Robson believes that Rice would be the perfect addition to the Arsenal squad, as Emery is seeking to add a top-class holding midfielder.

“I think Unai Emery will be looking for a holding midfield player,” Robson told ESPN FC.

“I certainly don’t think that he is happy with Elneny, Xhaka I don’t think does the job particularly well even though he is a good passer of the ball, and Guendouzi is still a young player.

“So that is why I think that Declan Rice would be a good addition to Arsenal’s squad.

“He has had a good season at West Ham. Is he a good passer of the ball? Well, I think he is very safe with his passing but he does read the game really well and he is a good athlete and he seems to be a good character.

“So I would put that signing as a hit for Arsenal as a holding midfield player.

“I would have him alongside Lucas Torreira. He is a good player who does most thinks required form a holding midfield player really well so Rice could play alongside him because it looks like Emery wants to play two holding midfield players.

“When you have got the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Alexandre Lacazette up front, you need that protection in midfield and he would provide that.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp should target Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, according to ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley.

Griezmann this week sent the football world crazy after confirming that he will be leaving Madrid at the end of the season in search of pastures new, with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona linked with a move.

United have been keeping tabs on Griezmann for the last few seasons but have failed to complete a transfer deal as the Frenchman had not intention of quitting the Spanish giants.

But he will be available for the highest fee this season, with some reports suggesting United were prepared to pay the £108 million fee for the services of Griezmann.

But Burley has urged Liverpool boss Klopp to make a move,.

“I actually think that Liverpool would be a great place for Griezmann to go this summer,” he said on the ESPN website

“Liverpool are very much a team on the up at the moment and he could aid Roberto Firmino who also likes to drop deep.

“Liverpool are a huge club who are fighting for league titles with Manchester City and have reached the last two Champions League finals.

“I don’t know if they have got enough money to do it but I wouldn’t go to Manchester United, that’s for sure.

“You talk about how good Griezmann would be linking up with Messi and Barcelona, what about with Liverpool’s front three?

“You look at that and we talk about Liverpool needing that strength in depth, he would add that and Firmino or Salah some games might sit out.”
