Rodriguez addresses rumours, Kane transfer message sent, martial praised , Rashford sane as Mbappe claim
Rodriguez address transfer rumours, Kane message sent, Solskjaer praised Martial – plus highlights, Rashford same as Mbappe in Manchester United news..
Manchester United transfer target James Rodriguez has hit out at accusations he is unprofessional and addressed speculation about his future at Real Madrid.
There has been alot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few months which have suggested that United are interested in nailing down the services of Rodriguez in the summer window.
It is widely believed that Rodriguez will look to leave the Bernabeu in search of first-team football, with the Premier League firmly in his sights, especially as there are a number of clubs interested.
Now, amid all the speculation, Rodriguez has opened up about all the rumours and the claims that he has not been professional enough, In an interview with TV programme Gol Caracol, he said: “It’s always uncomfortable to listen to the many lies that are said about someone, what’s important is the opinion of my family and those who know me.
“Anyway, it’s something that doesn’t affect me because I know what’s true and I work hard every day to be where I am. Those who surround me are always happy with what I have to offer.
“A lot of things have been said about me and almost all of them are lies. What most annoys me is that my professionalism has been put in doubt, and I can’t accept that.
“There never was any problem [with Zidane]. Every manager has a different taste. We have a normal working relationship. In the future you never know what’s going to happen, but if they let me choose, I would pick a club where I could show my abilities and my conditions.”
Manchester United would be “stupid” not to try and sign Harry Kane this summer, according to Louis Saha.
Kane is regarded as one of the very best players in the world and is a goal-scoring machine over at Tottenham, but there is some rumours in the media that he could depart the club in the coming seasons in order to start winning trophies.
The likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United have all been linked with a possible transfer move, but not this summer, as reports claim that he will not leave the Spurs when the transfer window opens up.
However, Saha doesn’t think his old club can rediscover past glories unless a “guaranteed 30-goal striker” is added to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ranks, and believes the club will be stupid not to make a move for Kane in the transfer window.
Asked whether any of the forwards playing for the Premier League’s ‘big six” sides would fit in at the Theatre of Dreams, the ex-United forward told Compare Bet: “When you’re talking about Harry Kane – a proper striker. When you see how many goals he scores each season, I would be stupid not to consider him.
“He’s a world-class striker. I know Werner is quite young, but he’s a prolific goalscorer. There’s definitely talent out there in the league and we have to catch up, we need a guaranteed 30-goal striker who is able to create some magic out of nothing, like Van Persie was able to do, removing the burden of having to play well as a side.
“This is what wins titles. There are six to eight sides competing at the top, plus, there’s so much quality everywhere now, you need competition within the team too.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed hat-trick hero Anthony Martial after his hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Sheffield United.
There has been alot of criticism of Martial this season as he has been unable to put more than one good performance together in that United shirt, but since the re-start of the Premier League, he has looked sharp.
He put in a quality performance against Sheffield United during the midweek and become the first player in seven years to score a hat-trick for Manchester United, which is a massive shock.
And after the Frenchman’s performance, Solkjaer has opened up and praised the young man, telling the Sky Sports website: “Very happy for Anthony.
“Of course when you get your hat-trick… it’s just unfortunate he didn’t celebrate with our fans. I thought our performance deserved a win, definitely.
“The third goal was a great goal, but for me the first and the second were better.
“He’s in the box, ready to go. We have worked on that, getting in the box in that situation more often.
“At the near post he showed composure and I think as I said the first goal was vital the way he turns and gets himself into a position to score from Marcus (Rashford’s) cross, very pleased with that.
“He’s getting more and more into those position he could have had one at Spurs a great turn and finish and a great save he’s in good form.”
Martial can be a special player for United if they can keep getting the best out of him, so now that he has once again impressed, he needs to push on and keep putting in the solid performances, otherwise he will once again get criticised.
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford and Kylian Mbappe are “definitely in the same bracket”, according to Louis Saha.
Rashford has been brilliant for Manchester United this season and has contributed a career-high tally of 19 goals and six assists to United’s cause in 32 appearances this season, adding that finishing touch to his ever increasing ability.
Mbappe, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the best players on the planet and a man that is tipped to become the next ‘best player in the world’ when the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo decide to retire or move away from the top of the game. .
The World Cup winner hit 18 goals in 20 top-flight outings as PSG marched towards a third successive domestic crown, and he could add the European Cup to his glittering CV when continental action resumes in August.
Asked if the England international is at the same level as the Frenchman, told Compare Bet : “Ability-wise? Yes. They’re both very fast players, they have the technical ability to get out of situations where they’re surrounded by two or three defenders.
“In terms of positions, Marcus and Kylian are quite similar. They like to play out wide but have also played up top. Kylian’s strength is that he is very direct, all the time. He doesn’t think twice.
“When he makes runs, you have to give him the ball, he’s so quick. That kind of directness is something we’ve also seen from Rashford.
“When he started, he was asking questions of defenders – ‘are you quick enough and good enough to keep me quiet for 90 minutes?’
“In terms of quality, they’re definitely in the same bracket. Mbappe has been able to achieve more consistency and approach the game without having to think too much.
“With United, Rashford has been part of a team in transition, so he couldn’t really express himself. He had to be a leader when perhaps it wasn’t his strength at first.
“He had to build qualities which should not have been his initial focus. Mbappe has taken advantage because he’s been able to play with PSG players who are at the very top level, so he’s been able to build confidence and try different things, a platform that Rashford hasn’t had so far.”
