Arsenal’s £35 million deal for talented midfielder ‘will be good move’ for star
Gabby Agbonlahor believes that Emile Smith Rowe’s potential move to Fulham is a step down for the Arsenal man, but that it will mean he can now play regularly.
Smith Rowe has been plagued by injury over the last two seasons and the arrival of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice has seen the 23-year-old drop down the pecking order in north London.
It’s understood ARSENAL are have been prepared to let Smith Rowe leave and the club are listening to offers for the player, who came through the club’s academy before making his first-team debut in 2018
Now the Hale End academy graduate looks set to call an end to his time with the Gunners after falling down the pecking order in recent seasons, as According to The Athletic, Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement with Fulham to let the 23-year-old head to Craven Cottage.
But ahead of his move to Fulham – pundit Agbonlahor has claimed that a move to Fulham is a step down for the midfielder: “I think he’s got every chance of doing well at Fulham,” Agbonlahor said on Drive.
“But look at his injury record and since 2022 he’s played only 716 minutes of Premier League football. That’s not enough.”
He continued: “Sometimes in football, you get it with some players that they don’t want to leave big clubs. It’s hard, he’s been there since he was 10, it’s hard to leave. You’re Arsenal through and through. You’re an Arsenal fan.
“But if you’re not playing football, you’re wasting away.
“You want to be playing week in, week out and you want to be building up to a Saturday knowing you’re going to play.”

A move to Fulham is probably something that Smith Rowe does not really want to happen – but it could help the player reignite his career and get back to his best – but as we said – he would probably prefer to stay at Arsenal and challenge for titles
