Ruben Amorim reveals why he has decided to join Manchester United

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has opened up and revealed why he has made the decision to move to Old Trafford and the Premier League to replace the departed Erik Ten Hag.

The Old Trafford hierarchy unanimously decided to sack Erik ten Hag having decided enough was enough after Sunday’s late loss at West Ham continued their poor start to his third season in charge.

Manchester United immediately set their sights on highly-rated coach Amorim, and he will take charge of United on November 11 once he has fulfilled his obligations at his current club.

United have paid around £10.6m to appoint the former midfielder, which included extra payments to release him from his 30-day notice period. His first game in charge will be against Ipswich on November 24, live on Sky Sports.

What has Amorim Said?

Speaking after Sporting’s win over Estrela, Amorim said: “The situation is: at the beginning of the season, I had a talk with him and Hugo Viana [then-sporting director] and I said that whatever happened, this would be my last season with Sporting. The president is here, he can confirm that.

“The season started, we know that we started very well. Then the Manchester United situation came and they appeared. They paid above the release clause. I never discussed anything with the president about this bargaining. The only question I made was only to go at the end of the season.
