German international opens up and tells fans he ‘turned down one or two offers’ as Chelsea is where he wants to be

Antonio Rudiger has admitted he turned down “one or two” moves away from Chelsea this summer.

Rudiger may have been a big part of the squad last season, but Frank Lampard has barely used him this time around and there was big speculation in the media that he was looking for a way out of a move.

Reports emerged suggesting that Tottenham were ready to swoop in and make a move for Rudiger, as Jose Mourinho is keen to add to that back-line and add a bit more quality to his defence, but a move never happened

Even his International boss came out and revealed that Rudiger did everything he could to leave the club in the transfer window, but now the defender has opened up and revealed that he turned down a number of clubs to stay at Chelsea.

He told The Athletic: “The club didn’t tell me that it was absolutely necessary for me to find a new club and that they definitely didn’t have me in their plans for the next few months.

“I also turned down one or two options myself.

“I wasn’t prepared to pack it all in simply because I had been left out a few times.

“I enjoy living in London and like being at Chelsea.”

Look, Rudiger has been solid as a Chelsea player over the past few seasons, but it is very easy to see why Lampard tried to get rid in the transfer window, and it is a massive shock to see that he had offers to leave.

It may be a mistake on his part as he will be a bit-part player this season ate Chelsea, but it was his choice and he will have to live with keeping the bench warm.
