German star OFFICIALLY announces he intends to be a Chelsea player by end of January window amid speculation

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has no plans to leave the club and wants to cement his place in Frank Lampard’s first team.

The German defender has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford bridge this season and has been frozen out by the Blues boss after seeking guarantees over playing time ahead of next summer’s Euros.

He was heavily linked with a move away from the club over the transfer window, but a shock decision to stay has meant that he has been keeping the bench warm while Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma impress at the back for Frank Lampard.

But despite the reports that he could leave in the January window, and after impressing in his last outing for Chelsea, he is now hopeful of a run of fixtures in the starting line-up, and is looking to stay at the club during the coming transfer window

“I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks,” Rudiger told German outlet SID.

“Now I see myself as a permanent part of the team.

“I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options but I received positive signals from the coaching team.”

Rudiger is a very good defender that can add to this Chelsea side until they go into that transfer kitty and add another star to the line-up, so the news that he intends to stay and fight for his future this season is great news.

It will mean that Lampard has a player that is hungry to succeed and prove that he is available for the first team, so even though he can be dodgy at time, this will come as great news to Chelsea.

But we still believe Chelsea need to sign a new defender in the coming transfer window.
